Position Summary:
As the Head of Vision Intelligence, you will lead world-class research and development to create transformative multimodal technologies. This position is part of the Samsung Research AI Center and is responsible for driving cutting-edge R&D that directly contributes to the company’s most critical business and product needs.
- Establish and guide innovative research in vision/multimodal AI, agent-based AI and hyper-personalized multimodal user experiences, fully aligned with the company’s global strategy and future product roadmap.
- Elevate Samsung AI Center as a premier global hub for breakthrough AI innovation.
Position Responsibilities:
- Lead Core AI R&D: Drive advanced research in vision AI modeling, Agentic AI modeling, and modern deep learning to power future products and differentiate current businesses.
- Strategic Innovation with Global Teams: In collaboration with Samsung Research and global R&D partners, identify opportunities to revolutionize Samsung products through emerging AI technologies.
- Research Excellence & Impact: Ensure consistent publication at premier venues (e.g., NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, AAAI, ACL, EMNLP, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, TPAMI). Meet ambitious goals for patents and high-impact papers. Organize influential scientific events such as conferences, workshops, and open challenges to enhance global visibility.
- Talent Acquisition & Development: Attract, hire, mentor, and retain top AI researchers and engineers while fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
- Technology Transfer: Work with product teams to integrate research results into consumer-ready solutions, accelerating the deployment of Agentic and personalized AI features across Samsung’s devices and services.
Required Skills:
- PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- 10+ years of post-PhD experience leading advanced AI research.
- Deep expertise in vision and multimodal AI and agentic AI (autonomous agents, reasoning, decision-making), plus strong foundations in computer vision, image/video processing, and generative AI applications.
- Proven record of top-tier publications and impactful patents, with successful technology transfer from research to large-scale products.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with Samsung’s global R&D teams and exceptional interpersonal skills to lead and inspire multidisciplinary research groups.
- Demonstrated ability to define long-term AI strategies and manage large, internationally distributed teams.
