A Brief Overview

Reporting to the Regional Head of Underwriting, Claims & Biometric Risk, EMEA, the Head of Underwriting & Claims Enterprise Transformation is responsible for shaping and leading the regional transformation agenda for underwriting, claims, medical and biometric capabilities. The role is expected to challenge current ways of working, reimagine how underwriting and claims could be delivered in the future, and lead innovation that creates more scalable, data-led and client-focused solutions across EMEA. This includes identifying, developing and embedding solutions that improve client value, operational efficiency, risk assessment and market competitiveness. Working through a regional and enterprise matrix, the role partners with market leaders, Strategic Execution, technology, data, medical, underwriting and claims teams to prioritise opportunities and align delivery with regional and enterprise objectives. While initiatives may originate within individual markets or sub-regions, the role is accountable for shaping solutions that provide broader regional benefit and supporting their implementation and adoption across relevant markets. The role also identifies and leverages best practices, capabilities and solutions from across the wider RGA Group, adapting them where appropriate to support EMEA priorities. It shapes the transformation agenda while enabling delivery through enterprise and sub-regional teams, rather than directly owning all technology execution.


What you will do

• Develop and lead the EMEA underwriting, claims, medical and biometric transformation strategy, aligned to business and enterprise priorities.
• Lead the digitalisation of underwriting and claims capabilities across EMEA, developing scalable solutions that improve customer experience, risk assessment, decision-making and operational efficiency. Partner with sub-regions to support adoption and delivery across multiple markets and business segments.
• Leveraging technology, advanced analytics, emerging data sources, predictive modelling and strategic partnerships to identify new opportunities, enhance underwriting practices and pioneer innovative reinsurance solutions.
• Lead scalable biometric solutions that strengthen underwriting and claims capabilities across EMEA. Partner with medical, underwriting and claims experts as well as actuaries and data scientists to translate emerging biometric insights into practical client solutions and promote consistent best practice across sub-regions.
• Drive transformation and continuous improvement across people, processes and systems, in alignment with global and regional stakeholders. Leverage AI, data and technology to enable end-to-end processes to improve productivity and deliver efficiency gains.
• Partner with Strategic Execution, enterprise technology, business leaders, vendors and industry players to deliver transformation objectives, identify opportunities and accelerate innovation adoption across markets.
• Collaborate with the regional Underwriting, Claims, Medical & Biometric Risk leadership team and SME’s, to deliver the EMEA strategy and share best practices across markets.
• Represent RGA externally on underwriting and claims innovation, digital transformation and emerging technologies. Share insights with clients and industry stakeholders and support business development through innovative client propositions and value-added solutions.
• Build and lead a high-performing transformation and innovation function, developing regional capability in digital underwriting and claims, automation, analytics and innovation. Foster creativity, continuous improvement and talent development through coaching and mentoring.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in insurance, risk, underwriting, claims, technology, business transformation or a related discipline required
• Significant experience within life and health insurance, reinsurance, underwriting, claims or related risk disciplines required
• Proven experience leading large-scale transformation, innovation or digital strategy programmes and delivering technology-enabled business change required
• Experience managing complex stakeholder environments across multiple markets or jurisdictions and influencing senior leadership teams required
• Strong understanding of underwriting and/or claims processes and emerging industry trends required
• Experience leading AI, automation, data analytics or digital underwriting initiatives preferred
• Experience working within a global or regional matrix organisation preferred
• Strategic thinking and innovation mindset required
• Leadership and stakeholder management required
• Translate emerging technologies into practical business solutions required
• Commercial awareness and client focus required
• Communication and presentation skills required
• Programme and change management expertise required
• Analytical, creative and solution-oriented problem solving required
