• Responsible for leading and overseeing the underwriting department for medical and life insurance products.
• This role involves developing and implementing underwriting policies, managing risk assessment processes, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Underwriting Lead also collaborates with other departments to optimize product offerings and pricing strategies while maintaining profitability and managing the overall risk portfolio of the insurance company

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in medical and life insurance underwriting, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
• Strong understanding of medical conditions, mortality risks, and their impact on insurance underwriting
• Excellent leadership skills with experience managing and developing underwriting teams
• In-depth knowledge of insurance regulations, compliance requirements, and industry best practices
• Professional designations such as FALU (Fellow of the Academy of Life Underwriting) or FLMI (Fellow, Life Management Institute) would be plus points
• Proven track record of developing and implementing successful underwriting strategies and policies

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the underwriting team, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations
• Develop and implement underwriting strategies, policies, and guidelines for medical and life insurance products
• Oversee risk assessment processes and ensure consistent application of underwriting standards
• Collaborate with actuarial, claims, and product development teams to optimize insurance offerings
• Analyze underwriting data and market trends to inform decision-making and improve processes
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards
• Manage relationships with reinsurers and other key stakeholders
• Drive innovation in underwriting practices, including the adoption of new technologies and data analytics
• Monitor and analyze underwriting results to maintain profitability and manage the risk portfolio
• Contribute to the development of new insurance products and pricing strategies
• Stay informed about medical advancements and industry changes that may impact underwriting practices
