Purpose of the Role

The Head of MOE Curriculum is a senior leadership position responsible for the strategic oversight, implementation, and continuous improvement of the UAE Ministry of Education curriculum across the school. This role ensures high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment, aligned with MoE standards, KHDA regulations, and the school’s School Improvement Plan (SIP).

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Head of MOE Curriculum drives curriculum development, professional development, and monitoring of student progress, ensuring all students receive a comprehensive, culturally responsive, and inclusive education.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Management

  • Lead the planning, development, and delivery of the MOE curriculum across all year groups.

  • Ensure compliance with UAE MoE curriculum requirements, embedding UAE heritage, culture, and values in all lessons.

  • Monitor teaching quality and learning outcomes, using data to inform interventions and school improvement strategies.

  • Collaborate with senior leaders and heads of department to integrate MOE curriculum goals with the British or international curriculum where applicable.

  • Lead, mentor, and support teachers in delivering high-quality MOE curriculum lessons, ensuring effective differentiation for Students of Determination and ELL learners.

Curriculum Development and Teaching Excellence

  • Ensure curriculum sequencing, progression, and assessment practices meet MoE and KHDA standards.

  • Develop teaching resources, schemes of work, and assessment frameworks aligned with MOE guidelines.

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and learning across subjects under the MOE curriculum.

  • Provide guidance and training for staff to implement innovative, inclusive, and culturally responsive pedagogy.

Assessment, Monitoring, and Reporting

  • Oversee student progress, attainment, and assessment data for all MOE curriculum subjects.

  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting to SLT, governors, and parents in line with KHDA SEF and SIP priorities.

  • Contribute to SEF evaluation and SIP targets with measurable outcomes related to MOE curriculum implementation.

Pastoral and Inclusion Leadership

  • Ensure all students, including Students of Determination and ELL learners, have equitable access to the MOE curriculum.

  • Support teachers in implementing differentiation, interventions, and inclusive practices.

  • Promote the development of social-emotional skills, personal development, and wellbeing through curriculum delivery.

Collaboration and Community Engagement

  • Work closely with teachers, middle leaders, parents, and external agencies to ensure effective MOE curriculum delivery.

  • Lead professional development programs for staff on MOE curriculum requirements and best practice.

  • Represent the MOE curriculum within SLT meetings, inspections, and community initiatives.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

Essential:

  • Qualified teacher with experience delivering and leading the UAE MoE curriculum

  • Minimum 5–7 years teaching experience, with at least 2–3 years in curriculum leadership or senior leadership

  • Strong knowledge of assessment, differentiation, inclusion, and curriculum mapping

  • Proven experience in strategic planning, staff mentoring, and curriculum development

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills

 

Desirable:

  • Experience in UAE or international schools

  • Familiarity with KHDA inspections, SEF, and SIP

  • Teaching for Effective Learning – ensure high-quality, inclusive pedagogy

  • Leadership, Collaboration, and Professional Responsibilities – contribute to SEF and SIP targets

School Improvement Plan (SIP) Alignment:

  • Embed MOE curriculum priorities in whole-school improvement strategies

  • Set measurable objectives to enhance attainment, teaching quality, and student wellbeing

  • Ensure curriculum targets support school-wide strategic goals

UAE Ministry of Education Alignment:

  • Deliver lessons and assessments according to MoE curriculum standards

  • Embed UAE heritage, culture, and values in teaching and learning

  • Ensure all learners, including Students of Determination, achieve their full potential
