Sagetap · Hybrid · San Francisco

Company Description

Sagetap is a rapidly growing startup changing how enterprise technology executives discover and evaluate software. Our AI-driven platform anonymously connects tech buyers with the industry's most credible technology vendors, helping them cut through the noise and solve their biggest problems.

Backed by investors like NFX Ventures, Uncorrelated Ventures, and Emergent Ventures, we are on a mission to fundamentally change software discovery for senior technology leaders and foster meaningful connections in a non-sales setting.

We're a tight-knit, fast-moving team that values curiosity, transparency, and impact. If you're energetic, results-oriented, and excited to work in an early-stage environment, come help us shape the future of technology buying at Sagetap.

Job Description

The constraint on this business is not demand. It is supply of exceptional executives.

Vendors want access to our Sages — the CISOs, Chief AI Officers, and senior technology leaders who make Sagetap valuable. What we have not yet perfected is a repeatable engine for bringing those executives into the network and keeping them active. That is this role, and it is the single most important unsolved problem at the company.

We have done this the linear way: outbound, one executive at a time. It works, and it will never get us where we need to go. Meanwhile the channels everyone else relies on are collapsing — enterprise executives are buried under AI-generated outreach, and the inbox and LinkedIn have stopped functioning as discovery channels for exactly the people we need to reach.

So we are looking for someone to build the channels that compound. Executives who bring their peers. Content that earns inbound because it says something no one else can say. Events that create their own gravity. Partnerships that put us in front of hundreds of the right people at once. Product mechanics that make growth a feature rather than a campaign.

You will own the growth of the Sage community end to end — acquisition through activation — and you will work directly with our CEO and Head of Business Operations on company strategy. This is a small team with a large problem and unusual leverage.

You will also have something most marketers never get: proprietary data. We can see what enterprises are actually evaluating, replacing, and renewing, sourced from verified executives. In a market drowning in generated content, that is a genuine unfair advantage — and turning it into demand is a core part of this job.

What You Will Do

Own Sage Acquisition

  • Build a portfolio of acquisition channels and take accountability for the number

  • Design and run Sage events, virtual and in person, that senior executives actually want to attend

  • Own paid and digital acquisition — creative, targeting, landing pages, and the discipline to kill what isn't working

  • Build partnerships with executive communities, VC firms, and adjacent organizations for joint programs targeted at our audience

  • Work with Product on PLG mechanics, starting with referrals — the highest-leverage channel available to us, because our members already know exactly the people we need

Build Customer Advocacy Into a Channel

  • Engage our strongest Sages to tell their stories publicly — video interviews, webinars, written pieces, and speaking spots at events we host

  • Turn member experience into recruitment: the most persuasive case for joining comes from a peer, not from us

  • Build the program so it runs repeatably rather than depending on individual relationships

Lead Content Strategy Against Proprietary Data

  • Own the content strategy that converts Sagetap's exclusive signal into awareness and demand

  • Grow the weekly Sage Signal into a channel senior leaders read and forward

  • Produce reports and data-driven insights that establish us as the authoritative source on what enterprises are really buying

  • Partner with our Sr. Content Strategist and amplify executive thought leadership from our CEO and Head of Business Operations

  • Celebrate member and customer wins publicly, in a way that respects anonymity

Own Activation, Not Just Acquisition

  • A Sage who joins and never takes a session is not a win. You own the whole funnel

  • Partner with Product and Content on welcome sequences, lifecycle email, notifications, and every touchpoint between signup and first session

  • Diagnose where activation breaks and fix it, rather than compensating with more volume at the top

Run Marketing Operations

  • Build and maintain the Sage target account list, and get it into CRM in a form the whole company can act on

  • Own tracking, attribution, and automation so we know which channels work and which we are subsidizing

  • Give the rest of the team visibility into pipeline and performance without being asked

Do It on a Real Budget

  • Operate with a small budget and a bias toward experiments that prove themselves before they scale

  • Create budget where it doesn't exist — vendor-sponsored events and co-marketing are a genuine lever here, and we expect you to use it

Who You Are

  • You have built demand for a business where the audience was the scarce resource — a marketplace, a community, a network — not just a product with a buyer

  • You are as comfortable with a P&L and an attribution model as with a narrative and a stage

  • You have run events that senior people chose to attend, and you know the difference between an event with attendance and an event with gravity

  • You can write, and you have a point of view about how to reach executives who are actively defending their attention

  • You are credible with senior technology leaders. You do not have to have been one, but you have to be able to hold a conversation with a CISO without reaching for a script

  • You operate well without a large team or a large budget, and you would rather run five sharp experiments than one expensive campaign

  • You want the accountability. This role owns a number, and that is the appeal, not the risk

Bonus: experience in enterprise security or AI, community-led growth, or building a media property alongside a product.

Why This Role

Most marketing leadership roles are asked to make an existing engine more efficient. This one is asked to build the engine.

You will work directly with the CEO on the problem the company most needs solved, with proprietary data no competitor has, in a market where the conventional playbooks are visibly failing. If you get this right, it is the thing that makes Sagetap work — and it will be obvious to everyone, including you.
