  • Senior clinical leadership opportunity within a supportive and collaborative Speech Pathology team

About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Grade 3 Speech Pathologist to join the Speech Pathology team at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne. In this senior clinical role, you will provide advanced assessment and management for adults with communication and swallowing disorders within the subacute inpatient setting. You will manage a specialized clinical caseload while providing leadership and expertise to support high-quality, person-centered and evidence-based care. Working closely with the Grade 4 Subacute Team Leader and broader multidisciplinary team, you will play an important role in optimizing patient outcomes and supporting safe and effective transitions of care. You will also contribute to the ongoing development of the Speech Pathology service, leading clinical initiatives and supporting contemporary models of care, quality improvement and professional development.

Classification: Speech Pathologist Grade 3 VW6–VW9 ($104,135.20 - $118,981.20 per annum).

Your Responsibilities

You will:

  • Provide advanced Speech Pathology assessment and management for adults with complex communication and swallowing disorders

  • Manage a specialised clinical caseload within the subacute inpatient setting

  • Provide clinical leadership and promote excellence in evidence-based, person-centred Speech Pathology practice

  • Work collaboratively with the Grade 4 Subacute Team Leader and multidisciplinary teams to support optimal patient outcomes

  • Provide clinical consultation and expertise in the management of complex patients

  • Lead and contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of clinical initiatives, pathways and models of care

  • Support quality improvement and service development activities

  • Contribute to a positive culture of professional learning, collaboration and continuous improvement

  • Support safe and effective transitions of care for patients across the healthcare continuum

Your Contribution

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Pathology), Bachelor of Speech Pathology or equivalent qualification

  • Eligibility for membership with Speech Pathology Australia

  • Commitment to Speech Pathology Australia’s Code of Ethics

  • Demonstrated experience within a subacute inpatient setting

  • Advanced clinical skills in the assessment and management of adults with communication and swallowing disorders

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team

  • A genuine passion for the contribution Speech Pathology can make during this critical stage of the patient care journey

  • A current Victoria Police Check, or willingness to obtain one
