Global Product Support Specialist – Rotary Drilling

Sandvik's Rotary Drilling Division in Alachua, FL — part of a global engineering leader with 41,000 employees worldwide and a place on Forbes' Top 100 Global Employers list — designs and builds some of the world's most advanced surface mining drilling rigs, used on every inhabited continent.

We're looking for a hands-on Global Product Support Specialist – Rotary Drilling to be the technical go-to for our global sales areas — diagnosing complex mechanical, hydraulic, and control-system issues, commissioning new machines at mine sites around the world, and training our frontline teams and customers on the equipment they operate every day.

If you thrive on solving tough problems in the field and want your work to move the mining industry forward — keep reading.

What You Will Do

As a Global Product Support Specialist, you will take technical ownership of Sandvik Rotary Drilling products in the field, supporting our frontline sales and service teams around the world. Your day-to-day will include:

  • Providing timely technical support on Sandvik Rotary Drilling products to customer sites domestically and internationally.

  • Troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical/control-system issues on rotary blasthole drills, including onboard control-system calibration, software installations, and firmware updates.

  • Leading on-site commissioning and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) of new drill rigs and supporting New Product Introductions to sales areas.

  • Configuring drill control-system software and machine parameters using Sandvik's frontline service tools.

  • Delivering hands-on classroom and mine-site training to Sandvik frontline teams, Sales Area Product Masters, technicians, and customers.

  • Investigating and resolving field issues through root cause failure analysis, in close collaboration with Product Engineering.

  • Reviewing Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) cases with Technical Support, Engineering, Sales, Product Management, and Manufacturing.

  • Advising on recommended spare parts lists and warranty recommendations, and maintaining Technical Support documentation.

About You

Work Authorization

  • Ability to work in the U.S. on a full-time indefinite basis without current or future employer sponsorship. Temporary work authorizations such as F-1 OPT/STEM OPT are not sufficient for this position.

Experience & Education

  • Minimum of 10 years in a technical role supporting heavy mobile equipment, including at least 5 years working directly with drilling or comparable surface mining equipment.

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Mining Engineering — or an equivalent trade/technical qualification combined with extensive, demonstrated field experience on drilling or heavy mobile equipment. (Degrees in IT, computer science, or software engineering alone are not a fit for this role.)

  • Proven track record delivering hands-on technical training.

Skills, Travel & Certifications

  • Strong hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical troubleshooting skills, with the ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics.

  • Working knowledge of PLC-based control systems and machine diagnostic tools.

  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities independently at remote sites.

  • Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills; solid Microsoft Office and technical/service software skills.

  • Willingness to travel internationally and domestically (~30–40%), including to remote mine sites.

  • Valid U.S. passport (or ability to obtain) and valid driver's license required. MSHA (Part 46/48) and First Aid certifications preferred.

What We Offer

  • Health care (medical, dental, vision, prescription, telemedicine) starting 30 days after hire.

  • Paid vacation with up to 80 hours rollover.

  • Paid parental leave (eligibility after 12 months of service).

  • 401(k) with 5% annual salary contribution + 50% match on the first 6%.

  • Tuition reimbursement and ongoing professional development.

  • A diverse, inclusive workplace where innovation — and you — can thrive.
