Role Objective
The Global Compliance Lead is responsible for the successful delivery of the outsourced services, team and people management, client stakeholder engagement, and process and project management.
The successful candidate should have a strong understanding of Corporate Tax, Legal Entity set-ups, Asset management, and be able to manage buy/sell transactions, Irrevocable letters of credit, Temporary Imports and Carnet creation/management. A working knowledge of dangerous goods, dual-use, and encrypted technology is also required.
Role & Responsibilities
Serve as the primary point of contact for the client, providing expert advice on customs compliance, classification, valuation, and documentation requirementsEnsure compliance with all relevant customs regulations, tariffs, and trade agreementsDevelop and implement efficient processes to ensure shipments are managed against appropriate timelines and expectationsMonitor changes in customs regulations and industry trends and support updates of internal policies and procedures accordinglyConduct regular audits and reviews to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to compliance standardsCollaborate with internal departments (e.g., logistics, finance, legal) to streamline processes and resolve issues effectivelyBuild and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners and other relevant stakeholdersProvide training and guidance to team members to enhance their knowledge and skills in customs brokerage operationsMonitor team workload and identify opportunities for automation and productivity improvementsWork closely with cross-functional team members to identify knowledge, reporting, or process gaps and create and drive improvement initiativesMonitor and manage costs to meet internal and external budget targetsExperience / Skills
University degree in a business-related discipline, ideally in law, commerce, engineering, or economicsIn-depth knowledge of export/import laws and regulations, with experience across global geographies5+ years of experience in customs/global trade (export, customs, and/or trade compliance); experience in technology, manufacturing, and/or BPO is preferredOperational experience in export/import operations and risk managementPeople management experience across different geographiesStrong project management skills and technological savvinessExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to operate and communicate effectively at all business levelsComfortable in a rapidly changing environment; strong problem-solving skills and attention to detailSelf-motivated and proactive with a passion for learning and creative problem-solvingProven service delivery and client stakeholder management experience
