Global Contract Manufacturing Manager

The Global Contract Manufacturing Manager is responsible for developing and executing Ingevity's global contract manufacturing strategy across the Pavement Technologies and Performance Materials businesses. This role ensures reliable, cost-effective, and compliant supply through a network of third-party manufacturing partners while supporting growth, innovation, and operational excellence.

How you will impact Ingevity

  • Lead all aspects of global contract manufacturing, tolling, and purchased finished goods activities across the supported Pavement Technologies and Performance Materials businesses.
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies for outsourced finished products, including contract negotiation, supplier selection, relationship management and accountability to contractual commitments.
  • Maintain a global network of qualified contract manufacturing partners that supports growth plans, new product development and effective utilization of internal manufacturing assets.
  • Continuously assess the need for new and existing contract manufacturing arrangements; lead efforts to bring work in-house when appropriate and integrate contract manufacturing activities resulting from mergers and acquisitions.
  • Ensure outsourced products are produced at the right time, in the right quantities and at objective customer service levels while managing business and customer expectations.
  • Ensure quality systems, product stewardship, regulatory, certification, and customer requirements are understood, documented, and maintained by third-party manufacturers.
  • Partner with global planning to anticipate and respond to production requirement changes and manage the end-to-end supply chain for outsourced finished products.
  • Establish robust, repeatable and documented processes for contract manufacturing and purchased finished goods.
  • Promote a high level of safety commitment consistent with Ingevity culture and ensure contract manufacturers and purchased finished goods comply with applicable environmental, safety, health, regulatory and certification requirements.
  • Drive process capability, quality, productivity and cost improvements, including sourcing-led savings and root cause elimination.  Ensure IATF requirements and documentation are met and maintained.
  • Manage the total cost of outsourced products, including production, packaging and supply chain costs.
  • Coordinate the internal functions required to execute contract manufacturing, including third-party operations, transportation management, global planning, plant operations, supply chain, product stewardship, tax, finance, accounting, customer service, sales, EHS and trade compliance.
  • Coordinate commercialization of new outsourced products and changes to existing products, processes, technologies, suppliers or sources of supply.
  • Establish supplier performance metrics to monitor service, quality, cost, safety, responsiveness, and corrective action performance.
  • Complete other projects and assignments as required.

What you need to succced
Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Five or more years of experience in contract manufacturing, operations, supply chain, procurement, technical services, or related functions within the specialty chemicals, materials, or process manufacturing industries.
  • Experience managing third-party manufacturing partners, suppliers, or external production networks.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives involving operations, planning, quality, procurement, product stewardship, commercial teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage product commercialization activities, supplier transitions, process changes, or new sources of supply.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across functions and levels of the organization.
  • Ability to travel approximately 30%, with business needs potentially requiring travel up to 40%.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and not require current or future visa sponsorship.
  • This position is located at the Ingevity HQ building in Charleston, SC.

Preferred qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Experience in specialty chemicals, chemical manufacturing, advanced materials, or other regulated process industries.
  • Working knowledge of contract manufacturing, tolling operations, strategic sourcing, and supplier relationship management.
  • Understanding of chemical manufacturing processes, process equipment, and production technologies.
  • Familiarity with Process Safety Management (PSM), OSHA, EPA, environmental permitting, Management of Change (MOC), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), and related compliance requirements.
  • Experience with quality management systems, IATF requirements, continuous improvement methodologies, and root cause analysis.
  • SAP experience.
  • Experience supporting mergers and acquisitions integrations, outsourcing strategies, or manufacturing network optimization initiatives.
