We're looking for a General Manager – Wealth & Insurance Partnerships to join our Customer, Product & Services (CP&S) team.
You'll set and deliver BNZ's wealth and insurance strategy through a partner-led model, bringing more customers into these products and growing the income they contribute to BNZ. You'll also own product governance for CP&S, making sure every product we offer is fit for purpose, delivers fair value and good customer outcomes, and is well controlled from design to retirement.
Mō te Tūranga | About the Role
We spoke with our Executive Manager, Customer Products & Services, and he let us know the following about the role:
What are some of the key responsibilities the General Manager will own?
- Own product governance across CP&S covering the full product lifecycle. Set clear standards, decision rights and accountabilities for product owners across CP&S.
- Set and deliver the wealth and insurance strategy - define where BNZ plays in wealth and insurance and the role of partners, and grow the number of customers who hold these products by building them into home lending, cards, everyday banking and business banking journeys across digital and banker channels.
- Assure customer outcomes and fair value - define outcome measures, monitor product performance, complaints and conduct indicators, and make sure issues are acted on quickly and remediated where needed.
- Provide insight and oversight - run governance forums that give the Executive and Board a clear, data-led view of product health, conduct risk and regulatory obligations.
- Simplify the product set - use product reviews to drive rationalisation, removing products, variants and features that no longer serve customers or BNZ, reducing complexity, cost and risk.
- Run the partnership portfolio for value - set contract strategy, test value against the market, use renewals, recontracting and exits to improve outcomes, and apply the same product governance standards to partner-issued products as to BNZ’s own.

This is an opportunity to take Wealth, Insurance and Partnerships to the next level. With strong foundations to build from, you’ll have the scope to lift our ambition, bring a different perspective and shape the next phase of growth, creating even greater value for our customers and BNZ.

- A strong record of setting strategy and negotiating, structuring and managing complex strategic partnerships.
- Commercial acumen and experience growing product income through customer journeys and distribution channels.
- Experience leading large, multi-disciplinary teams and building leadership capability.
- Credibility with executive, board, regulator and partner audiences.

You’ll have set a clear ambition for the portfolio, strengthened our propositions and partnerships, and created stronger connectivity with other key products and propositions across BNZ. Ultimately, success will be reflected in a more connected customer experience, stronger customer and commercial outcomes, and a portfolio that makes a greater contribution to BNZ’s broader ambitions.
