As a Funeral Director Apprentice, you'll work alongside experienced funeral directors to learn the art and responsibility of caring for families during life's most meaningful moments. This apprenticeship is designed to build your skills in arrangements, service coordination, and community care. This is a great opportunity to work towards a Wisconsin Funeral Director License, or just get your foot in the door of Funeral Service.
You'll gain hands-on experience across every part of the profession — from meeting with families to coordinating services to understanding the operational side of a funeral home — all backed by the mentorship and structure of an organization that's been honoring lives for over a century. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Assist licensed funeral directors with arrangement conferences, helping families select services and merchandise with care and clarity
· Support the coordination and setup of visitations, funerals, memorial services, and committals
· Participate in the preparation and care of decedents under the supervision of a licensed funeral director, in compliance with state and federal regulations
· Assist in maintaining the appearance and readiness of facilities, vehicles, and equipment to Vertin's service standards
· Shadow and learn from an assigned mentor, building toward independent licensure and practice
Requirements
· Completion of the 16-Hour course, under Wisconsin Licensed Funeral Director’s Apprentice Course
· Age 18 or older
· Customer Service Experience
· Ability to lift/move 100+ lbs
