Über diese Fund Accounting Manager Stelle bei Base Power Company
About Base
Base is America’s next-generation power company. We’re rebuilding the foundation of modern civilization–electricity–by deploying a vast network of distributed batteries that is transforming today’s fragile, centralized grid into a resilient and abundant system. We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time.
About the Role
Base finances its batteries partly through tax equity partnerships — structures that let outside investors fund a share of every battery we deploy in exchange for tax benefits and a return, while Base keeps building, installing, and running the fleet. As those funds scale, someone has to own the accounting inside each partnership: capital accounts, HLBV, allocations, and the books behind every K-1 and audit.
That's this role. Base doesn't have a dedicated fund accounting function yet, and there's no existing playbook for it here — you'll build one. You'll set up the chart of accounts, close process, and reconciliation between fund-level and corporate books for Base's tax equity fund(s), then run that process as more funds come online.
You'll work closely with the asset management and capital markets team on fund structuring and with corporate accounting on the tie-out between entities. As Base adds tax equity funds and other structured-finance vehicles, this role's scope grows with them.
What You'll Do
Own all fund-level accounting and financial reporting for Base's tax equity funds, including capital account maintenance, HLBV calculations, income and loss allocations, and distribution waterfall accounting.
Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process for each fund, ensuring accurate financial results and reconciliation between fund-level records and corporate accounting in NetSuite.
Prepare and maintain audit-ready accounting support, including K-1 schedules, capital account statements, financial statement workpapers, and responses to auditor and investor inquiries.
Design and implement the fund accounting infrastructure, including the chart of accounts, close procedures, reconciliation frameworks, accounting policies, and internal controls to support scalability and audit compliance.
Account for and reconcile capital activity, fundings, distributions, management fees, and other fund transactions, ensuring alignment between financial models and the general ledger.
Partner with asset management, capital markets, and tax counsel as new tax equity funds are structured, so accounting requirements are built in from day one, not retrofitted after close.
Flag where manual processes should become automated as fund count and complexity grow.
What You'll Bring
3–6+ years in fund accounting, partnership accounting, or tax equity accounting — at a fund administrator, sponsor or developer, bank, or accounting firm.
Working knowledge of partnership accounting mechanics: capital accounts, HLBV, income and loss allocations, and waterfall structures. Tax equity or renewable energy experience is a strong plus.
Comfort owning a monthly close process end to end, with no one behind you to catch mistakes.
Experience preparing for or supporting an audit: schedules, reconciliations, and answering auditor questions directly.
Excel fluency, plus comfort with or willingness to learn NetSuite and BigQuery.
Ability to build a process where none exists — you're as comfortable writing the SOP as following one.
About the Team
The Base finance and business operations team is responsible for providing clear visibility on past and future performance across the business, financing our growth, capital allocation decisions, and supporting the broader Base team on key performance drivers. To succeed, Base must raise and deploy tens of billions of dollars, maintain sustainable unit economics, exercise extreme operating leverage, and balance supply/demand and growth/profitability in a complex and high-pace environment. The finance team enables these by building toward omniscience with sharp analytics and tools for observability, integrating with the business to support operational decisions, establishing tight controls and processes to cull complexity, and presenting Base to investors effectively.
Please note: Base is a startup, which means priorities shift and evolve quickly. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.
