Medical Receptionists are the first point of administrative contact for patients in the office. They perform essential office functions, including greeting patients, scheduling appointments, and checking patients in and out.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Greets and welcomes patients upon arrival for their appointments.
• Registers new patients and updates existing patient demographics by ensuring all necessary treatment documentation is collected and accurately collecting and applying payments for services and products.
• Answers the phone politely and consistently, using proper telephone etiquette, and directs calls as needed. 
• Facilitates patient flow by notifying clinical staff of arrivals, monitoring potential delays, communicating with patients and staff, and checking patients in and out for their appointments. 
• Keeps office supplies adequately stocked by anticipating inventory needs and monitoring office equipment. 
• Learns new products and maintains an accurate inventory of all items. 
• Ensures a positive patient experience through excellent customer service. 
• Verifies patient health benefits with approved healthcare companies. 
• Responsible for scheduling appointments
• Sends out and receives medical records and referrals for patient care.
• Keeps the reception area clean and organized.
• Works in a team environment to accomplish everyday tasks in a collegial manner. 
• Travel to other locations
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: 1 -2 years of medical office experience preferred.

Communication: Excellent oral communication skills; effective communication.

Work Style: Must be able to work well independently but ask for help when needed—the ability to analyze and interpret information, and interact and decipher information telephonically and electronically.
