We’re seeking a Food Service Assistant I to join our Nutrition Services team at Wilmington Hospital. In this essential role, you’ll help ensure patients receive safe, accurate, and high-quality meals while supporting a clean and efficient kitchen environment.
Schedule & Hours
Business Hours: 5:30 AM – 7:30 PM
Primary Shifts:
- 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- 3:45 PM – 7:30 PM
Additional shifts may include:
- 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- 6:45 AM – 3:15 PM
*Weekend & Holiday Rotation Required
**Must be able to work a combination of all shifts
What You’ll Do
- Assemble patient meals accurately and efficiently according to menu and dietary guidelines
- Support tray line operations, dish room, sanitation, and kitchen assignments
- Ensure proper portioning, tray setup, and meal presentation
- Follow therapeutic diet requirements and distinguish between regular and modified diets
- Maintain food safety standards, including temperature control and cross-contamination prevention
- Uphold sanitation and safety standards in compliance with federal, state, and organizational regulations
- Demonstrate a “patients come first” mindset in every interaction
What You Bring
- Food service experience preferred
- Understanding of basic food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to follow procedures and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Team-oriented mindset with a positive, service-driven attitude
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, and pull throughout your shift
- Comfortable working in kitchen and patient care environments
- Ability to follow infection prevention and safety protocols
