WHAT YOU WILL DO

Preventive Maintenance

• Perform planned maintenance on production, packaging and utility equipment.
• Inspect machinery and identify potential failures before breakdowns occur.
• Ensure equipment reliability and optimal performance.

Breakdown Maintenance

• Diagnose mechanical faults and equipment failures.
• Carry out repairs efficiently to minimise downtime.
• Use appropriate diagnostic techniques to determine root causes.

Installation and Commissioning

• Install new machinery and equipment.
• Assist with commissioning and start-up activities.
• Verify that equipment operates according to specifications.

Equipment Improvements

• Modify or upgrade equipment to improve: Performance Efficiency Safety Reliability

Safety and Compliance

• Follow Tiger Brands safety procedures and engineering standards.
• Maintain housekeeping in workshops and production areas.
• Participate in risk assessments and safety inspections.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

Knowledge and Skills Required

• Strong mechanical fitting skills.
• Good understanding of packaging machinery.
• Good understanding of compressed air systems and steam generation equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve technical problems.
• Attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Minimum Qualifications

• N4 Mechanical Engineering.
• Red Seal Trade Certificate in: Fitter Fitter & Turner Millwright Or equivalent recognised trade qualification.

Experience

• Proven experience as a fitter or in a related maintenance role.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems and industrial equipment.

• Plant availability and uptime.
• Maintenance schedule compliance.
• Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF).
• Breakdown response and repair time.
• Safety compliance and zero lost-time incidents.
• Maintenance cost control and continuous improvement initiatives.
