As a Fish Habitat GIS Analyst (Information Systems Specialist 5) in Salem, Oregon, you manage fish habitat and stream classification data in support of the Private Forest Accord (PFA) and other applications of these data. This will be done by stewarding fish habitat spatial data and representing it, along with Salmon, Steelhead and Bull Trout (SSBT) reaches on multiple hydrography networks.  Data stewardship will include the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures and implementation of QA/QC procedures.

Spatial information stewarded by this position directly supports an agency strategic initiative and addresses management, conservation, and public service aspects of fulfilling the agency’s mission.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Minimum Qualifications:

In order to be considered, applicants must meet at least one of the following options:

  • Option 1: Four (4) years of information systems experience

  • Option 2: An Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, AND completion of a two (2) year two (2) years of information systems experience

  • Option 3: A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field may substitute for all of the above.

Desired Attributes:

  • Experience using biological and fisheries/wildlife resources, terminology and data collection practices.

  • Experience using Esri’s ArcGIS software and spatial database technology including demonstrated skills with automating data processing and streamlining data transfer workflows.

  • Experience using Linear Referencing Data Models, the National Hydrography Dataset / 3D Hydrography Product, geometric or trace networks.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills shown through professional reports, presentations, publications, or coordination with internal and external partners.
