Your role

At Allens, our business teams bring specialist skills and expertise that help solve critical client and business challenges. Through our First Nations Corporate Services Internship Program, you'll gain firsthand insight into working in a commercial legal environment and the opportunities available beyond legal practice.

Our 2027 First Nations Corporate Services Internship Program is open to First Nations university students and will run from Monday, 1 February to Friday, 19 February 2027.

You'll be a member of one of our business teams based in any of our Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth offices.  Our internship program is a stepping stone to bigger things – previous interns have gone to secure permanent roles at Allens, other firms, client organisations and elsewhere in the profession.

As a First Nations Corporate Services Intern, you can expect:

• A personalised induction program that introduces you to our people and the work we do.

• Hands-on experience within one of our business teams: Business Operations, Finance, Information Technology, Innovation & Digital Services, Knowledge & Practice Services, Marketing & Client Services, or People & Development. We'll try and pair you with a team depending on your area of study or interests, but you can expect to work alongside professionals on real projects and business initiatives, allowing you to develop your commercial, operational and professional skills, and gain invaluable insight into the work we do, and the clients and stakeholders we support.

• A dedicated support network consisting of a senior member of the business team who will act as your Manager, as well as a buddy who will support and ensure you make the most of your internship, get to know our people, and thrive.

• An opportunity to explore and hear from professionals across the firm who will provide you with an insight into different career pathways in our firm, including other Business Teams, our committees, and interest groups.

• A chance to build your network and forge mentor relationships with our people.

About you

To be eligible for the program, you will:

• Identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.

• Be currently enrolled in a university degree (we'll aim to pair you with a team that aligns with your studies and interests).

• Have an interest in working in a commercial environment and exploring career opportunities beyond legal practice.

• Be keen to learn, develop new skills and gain practical workplace experience.

• Enjoy building relationships, expanding your professional network and learning from others through mentoring opportunities.

• Bring curiosity, enthusiasm and a willingness to contribute to a collaborative team environment.
