Currently our Supply Chain division has a First Line Manager, Warehouse - Stockkeeping opportunity, within the Supply Chain and Warehousing & Logistics department.

The First Line Manager, Warehouse is committed to monitoring work execution, both through personal observation and management information, to ensure work quality, policy/procedure compliance, safety, timeliness, productivity and taking action as appropriate. 

This position is responsible for a team who carry out receiving, receipting, inspection, packaging, shipping, scheduling, physical inventory, material identification, taking and distribution of all materials, tools, and equipment, in a manner consistent with approved policies, procedures, standards, and improvement plans.  As a manager they ensure adequate training is provided and delivered to staff to assure that responsibilities are effectively and efficiently carried out in compliance with company, regulatory and safety program requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide input for long-term planning; manage resources and shifts for outages/non-routine work. Identify and address training needs; conduct evaluations and safety briefings.

  • Support HR processes including hiring, discipline, performance, and leave management. Prepare related documentation.

  • Track and report performance metrics; manage warehouse backlogs and initiate improvements. Handle SCRs and corrective actions; maintain tools and facilities.

  • Advise on space, workstation standards, and process changes. Recommend and implement control systems (e.g., barcoding, tool management).

  • Develop and manage procedures and safety analyses (JSA/TSA); conduct evaluations.

  • Identify and arrange disposition of obsolete or surplus materials/tools.

  • Recommend and implement new warehousing technologies to improve efficiency and support sustainability goals.

  • Manage special storage and shelf-life programs; conduct inspections and document issues.

  • Operate and maintain tool crib; ensure tool availability and condition; manage inventory.

  • Implement safety inspection programs for tools and PPE.

  • Ensure secure storage and control of materials; authorize removals and update records; address deficiencies.

  • Maintain accurate inventory and location systems; perform counts and resolve discrepancies; adjust ROP/TMAX as needed.

  • Plan and manage shipments per regulatory requirements.

  • Ensure received materials meet QA, EQ, WHMIS standards; dispose of surplus.

  • Promote sustainability through recycling, reuse, and reduced packaging.

  • Provide support to user groups; maintain relationships to ensure effective warehousing for production, maintenance, outages, and capital projects. Address concerns and participate in issue resolution teams.

  • Coordinate special material movements with external agencies.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Requires a knowledge of inventory management and purchasing/procurement principles and theories.

  • Requires knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations and relevant acts, legislation, policies and procedures related to warehousing/shipping and transportation of dangerous goods.

  • Requires a knowledge of civil technology subjects sufficient to understand the assembly, function and operation of civil maintenance equipment, methodology, and related systems.

  • Requires proficiency in oral and written expression to discuss maintenance and modification conditions, and to prepare reports, and document procedures and practices.

Education and Experience:

  • Requires a Grade XII education plus up to two years further concentrated study in areas relevant to this position such as business, purchasing, supply chain, materials management, or other relevant programs

  • Minimum 6 years and up to 8 years of experience is considered necessary in a warehouse environment

  • Requires experience to be familiar with civil maintenance and warehousing procedures related to nuclear generating stations and associated safety policies and procedures, including radiation safety. 

  • Requires broad experience such as might be gained in a large industrial warehouse facility, to understand the practical aspects of materials management operations and processes and operational impact of material control on user groups.

  • Requires familiarity with the use of manufacturers’ equipment manuals and specifications to understand the types of equipment and materials being warehoused and associated handling provisions and documentation required. 

  • Requires experience in planning and work management skills. 

  • Requires experience to become familiar with station low level purchasing procedures and practices.

  • Requires experience in a supervisory capacity including the management and administration of staff.
