Über diese Financial Systems Engineer - Hedge Funds, PE & VC Funds Stelle bei Junoniapartners
Company Overview
Junonia Partners provides Outsourced CFO and Controller services to investment advisors across hedge funds, private equity, venture capital and institutional investors including foundations, RIAs and family offices. Our firm was built on the belief that sophisticated investment organizations require more than transactional support. They require strategically tailored and controlled financial infrastructure, operational rigor, and consistently accurate execution. We focus on designing durable solutions, strengthening control environments, and building scalable processes that support long-term performance.
Our professionals operate as primary financial and operational experts within our clients’ ecosystems, assuming responsibility for the integrity, structure, and execution of critical back and middle-office functions. Rather than applying temporary fixes, we architect systems that enhance reliability, transparency, and efficiency across complex financial environments. Increasingly, that means building the financial stack – the software, data pipelines, and AI agents performing the workflows – not managing the people and spreadsheets that do it by hand.
Build for tomorrow
Integrate long-term solutions and processes, not band-aids
Serve as a partner
Trusted advisor, not just a consultant or another service provider
Go the extra mile
Delivering what’s expected, on schedule, is table stakes
Execution Is Foundational. Delivering accurate, timely work is the baseline expectation. Top performers distinguish themselves through precision, ownership, innovation, and their ability to solve complex operational challenges while maintaining exceptionally high standards.
Why This Role Exists
Fund finance has always been constrained by data: pulling it from the OMS, the fund administrator, prime brokers, custodians, banks, and portfolio companies, then reconciling it by hand before any real analysis can begin. AI has removed that bottleneck. The last generation of software helped finance professionals manage the work; this generation can do the work itself.
We are building a finance engineering practice to take advantage of that shift on behalf of our clients. The Financial Systems Engineer sits at the intersection of fund accounting and software. Someone who understands a NAV package, a waterfall, and a tri-party reconciliation well enough to know what “right” looks like, and who can write the code, workflows, and agents that produce it faster, more consistently, and with a cleaner audit trail than any manual process.
Position Overview
Financial Systems Engineers design, build, and run the systems that power our outsourced CFO and Controller engagements. You will work alongside our team and directly with clients, taking recurring, time-sensitive work across our clients’ funds and turning it into reliable, auditable, automated workflows with an eye toward what’s next, anticipating emerging models, tools, and industry shifts so the systems we deliver today stay flexible, adaptable, and valuable as the AI landscape evolves.
Our vision is simple: create an orchestrated integration of AI skills, workflows, and agents to automate the mundane and enhance critical thinking, allowing our team to focus on the highest and best use of their time and skillsets. In this role, you will deeply understand how these pieces fit together, knowing when a skill, a workflow, or an agent is the right tool and weighing each choice for efficiency and cost, while building with an eye toward where AI is heading. You will own the work end to end: scoping the problem with the engagement team, connecting data sources, building and testing the solution, and moving it into production with the controls and documentation our clients and their auditors require.
This is not a back-office IT role. You will be expected to understand the bigger picture and end-goals behind every process that you automate, to participate in client conversations, and to exercise judgment about what to build, what to buy, and what should remain a human decision. Agents may draft the entry or flag the break; finance sets the rules and owns the sign-off.
The work is varied and intellectually demanding, spanning multiple fund structures, strategies, and technology stacks. It is particularly well suited for individuals motivated by mastery, technical competence, and the opportunity to define a new discipline within a growing firm. Advancement is performance-driven and based on demonstrated impact rather than tenure.
Responsibilities
- Analyze opportunities for creating autonomous agentic teams that will seamlessly integrate with our existing human talent.
- Build the fund finance operating platform. Design, build, and maintain the data pipelines, workflows, and AI agents that support our engagements across hedge fund, private equity, and venture capital clients.
- Connect client and service-provider systems via APIs, SFTP, report exports, and data feeds, including OMS/PMS platforms (e.g., Enfusion, Eze), fund administrator portals, prime broker and custodian files, bank portals, payroll, and accounting systems.
- Build reusable AI skills and agents (using tools such as Claude, Claude Code, and similar platforms) for recurring work: data pulls, reconciliations, document review, variance analysis, and first-draft deliverables.
- Maintain a shared library of firm workflows so that every solution built for one client becomes a starting point for the next.
- Hedge funds. Automate daily and monthly cash and P&L reconciliations between the OMS, fund administrator, and prime broker/custodian (tri-party reconciliation); surface breaks with root-cause context; and build tooling that supports treasury management, margin, financing, and locates.
- Private equity and venture capital. Build models and tools that independently recalculate capital calls, distributions, management fees, carried interest, and distribution waterfalls; track investor commitments and unfunded balances; and streamline portfolio company data collection and valuation support.
- NAV and investor reporting. Automate the review of NAV packages and investor statements prepared by the fund administrator, including shadow re-calculation of investor allocations, management fees, and incentive allocations, with exceptions routed to the engagement team for review.
- Close, audit, and tax. Move clients toward a faster, more continuous close; build audit-ready reconciliations and support schedules; and reduce the manual effort behind the annual audit and tax process for fund and management company entities.
- Management company finance. Build live reporting, cash forecasts, budgets, and dashboards for management company clients in place of static monthly packages.
- Controls as a product feature. Ensure every automated number has a traceable source, a documented calculation, and a clear human approval point. Build monitoring, exception reporting, and regression testing so that automations stay correct as data, systems, and fund structures change.
- Fund launches and systems selection. Support new fund launches by evaluating and implementing the technology stack, including fund administrator data delivery, OMS/PMS, accounting, banking, and reporting tools, and integrating each into the client’s operations from day one.
- Enable the team. Train Associates, Managers, and Directors to use and extend the tools you build, raising the AI fluency of the entire firm. Our most experienced fund professionals know what great output looks like; your job is to give them leverage.
- Respond quickly to production issues and unexpected client operational problems and stay flexible to shift focus as client needs arise.
Required Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
- 3-5+ years of experience in the alternative investment management industry (hedge fund, private equity, venture capital, fund administration, or fund audit), in a role with meaningful systems, data, or automation responsibility.
- Working knowledge of fund accounting: NAV calculation, investor capital allocations, management and incentive fees, capital calls and distributions, and the relationship between the fund administrator, prime broker/custodian, and OMS.
- Hands-on technical skills: demonstrated coding ability, either from scratch or AI-assisted, with the knowledge required to read and debug code; experience working with APIs, data files, and integrations between financial systems.
- Demonstrated use of AI tools in real finance workflows, including building prompts, skills, agents, and automations that others rely on, with the judgment to know where AI output needs human review.
- Advanced Excel skills, and the ability to translate a complex spreadsheet into a durable, documented system.
- A controls mindset: exceptional attention to detail, a habit of testing and documenting your work, and an understanding of what auditors need to rely on an automated process.
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field, with strong academic credentials.
- Experience that demonstrates the ability to define, create, and implement processes and systems from the ground up.
- Ability to communicate clearly with both finance professionals and technical counterparts in a manner that fosters strong relationships and instills trust and confidence.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while effectively prioritizing tasks across multiple clients.
- Desire to be part of an entrepreneurial environment and to help build a growing firm into a best-in-class industry partner. This role is best suited for someone who enjoys taking initiative, building solutions, and being accountable for outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA, CFA, or equivalent technical accounting credential.
- Experience with industry platforms such as Enfusion, Eze, Geneva, Allvue, Investran, or Carta, and related data delivery automations.
- Experience with BI and data tools (e.g., Power BI, Metabase, cloud data warehousing) and with workflow automation platforms.
- Experience implementing or migrating an ERP, general ledger, or fund accounting system.
- A portfolio of tools, automations, or code you have built and can walk us through.
