Financial Crimes Compliance – Complex Investigations Intern

Internship Period: 11 January 2027 – 30 June 2027

Job Description

• Support the FCOA Complex Investigations team in identifying, triaging and documenting APAC financial crime intelligence leads, including adverse media, external referrals, LFCF escalations and typology-driven review matters.
• Assist with APAC media sweep activities by reviewing public-source materials, preparing concise summaries, identifying subjects of interest and jurisdictional nexus, and drafting recommended next steps for review.
• Support exposure reviews, including drafting template inputs, organizing SOI details and identifiers, tracking APAC branch responses, and performing basic completeness checks.
• Be involved in performing investigations, including assisting in organizing investigation workpapers, KYC / transaction data, RFIs and correspondence into appropriate case folders while observing confidentiality, information classification and recordkeeping expectations.
• Help prepare governance and management information materials, including updates for various forums and calls, exposure review trackers, escalation trackers, action logs and quarterly summary inputs.
• Support process improvement and document refresh activities, including template clean-up, checklist development, cross-reference checks and final presentation of learnings / operational improvement ideas.

Job Requirements

• Undergraduate student in Law, Business, Accountancy, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline with a strong interest in financial crime compliance.
• Strong written communication skills, with ability to summarize complex information clearly, accurately and professionally for internal stakeholders.
• Good analytical judgement and attention to detail, including ability to distinguish facts, assumptions, potential risks and proposed follow-up questions.
• Comfortable working with Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook; familiarity with data organization, trackers, research databases or public-source research is advantageous.
• Able to handle confidential information responsibly and follow instructions on information security, cross-border data sharing and recordkeeping.
• Self-motivated, organized and comfortable working with stakeholders across APAC locations; able to manage deadlines and ask timely questions when scope or evidence is unclear.
• Prior coursework or internship exposure to AML, sanctions, anti-bribery and corruption, investigations, risk management or regulatory compliance is advantageous but not mandatory.
