Job Title: Finance Team Lead – Colombia

Location: Bogotá, Colombia – Remote
Employment Type: Full Time

Position Overview

The Finance Team Lead – Colombia is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day finance and accounting activities for AVEVA’s Colombian entity, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, timely completion of month-end and year-end activities, and compliance with local statutory, tax, corporate and internal control requirements.

The role will lead the local Finance team and work closely with the LATAM Finance Director, regional Finance teams, Tax, Treasury, FP&A, Commercial Finance and other global functions.

This is a hands-on leadership role. The successful candidate must be comfortable going into the detail, investigating accounting, tax or control issues, and working directly with the team to resolve them. The role requires someone who can combine strong technical accounting and Colombian tax knowledge with effective people management and stakeholder engagement.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Colombia Finance team, setting clear objectives, priorities and expectations while ensuring strong performance, accountability and collaboration.

  • Take ownership of the accounting and financial reporting activities for the Colombian legal entity, ensuring the accuracy, completeness and integrity of financial records.

  • Manage the monthly, quarterly and year-end close processes, ensuring all activities are completed accurately and within corporate deadlines.

  • Maintain a hands-on approach to accounting activities, being able to review, investigate and resolve complex or unusual accounting issues rather than relying solely on team members or external advisors.

  • Review and oversee general ledger activities, including journal entries, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, intercompany transactions, balance sheet reconciliations and other period-end activities.

  • Ensure balance sheet accounts are properly reconciled, supported and reviewed, with timely investigation and resolution of aged or unreconciled items.

  • Coordinate local statutory accounting and financial statement preparation, working closely with external auditors and advisors as required.

  • Take an active role in Colombian tax matters, ensuring appropriate understanding, review and follow-up of local tax compliance requirements and tax-related accounting matters.

  • Work closely with internal Tax teams and external tax advisors, while maintaining sufficient technical knowledge and ownership to understand, challenge and validate tax positions and recommendations.

  • Coordinate and support internal and external audits, providing documentation and explanations and ensuring timely resolution of audit requests, questions and findings.

  • Maintain a strong internal control environment and ensure compliance with AVEVA policies, SOX requirements and applicable local regulations.

  • Identify accounting, tax, financial, operational and compliance risks and escalate issues appropriately to the LATAM Finance Director and relevant stakeholders.

  • Work closely with Treasury on local banking, cash management, payments and other treasury-related activities.

  • Partner with Commercial Finance, Sales and other business stakeholders on finance-related matters affecting the Colombian entity.

  • Support revenue recognition and other accounting assessments, ensuring transactions are recorded in accordance with AVEVA accounting policies and applicable accounting standards.

  • Maintain close relationships with regional and global Finance stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and timely resolution of issues.

  • Drive process improvements, standardisation and automation opportunities to improve the efficiency and quality of Finance operations.

  • Support regional Finance initiatives and projects as required.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Must Have

  • Strong accounting and financial reporting background with solid understanding of general ledger, balance sheet management and month-end/year-end close processes.

  • Strong knowledge of Colombian accounting, statutory and tax requirements.

  • Demonstrated experience dealing with Colombian tax matters and working with tax authorities and/or external tax advisors.

  • Previous experience coordinating statutory audits, tax compliance and external audit requirements.

  • Experience managing or supervising a Finance or Accounting team.

  • Strong hands-on approach, with the ability and willingness to investigate issues, understand the underlying transactions and work through the detail to reach a resolution.

  • Ability to combine people management responsibilities with direct involvement in accounting, tax, audit and control matters when required.

  • Strong understanding of internal controls, financial controls and operational risk.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently, take ownership, make sound judgements and appropriately escalate issues.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with local, regional and global stakeholders.

  • Ability to operate comfortably at both a detailed technical level and a managerial level.

  • High level of integrity and a strong commitment to compliance and ethical standards.

  • Ability to work effectively in a multinational and matrix organisation.

  • Fluent or strong professional English, with the ability to participate confidently in meetings and communicate effectively with regional and global stakeholders.
