Join the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine’s Accounting Service Center (ASC) and play a key role in supporting the College’s financial operations. As a Finance Specialist, you’ll partner with departments, faculty, and staff to provide financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, and guidance on complex financial processes. This role offers the opportunity to manage sponsored funding, support procurement and financial transactions, and help ensure accuracy, compliance, and strong internal controls. We’re looking for a collaborative, detail-oriented finance professional who enjoys solving problems and delivering excellent customer service.

The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Provide financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, and planning support to assigned departments and units.
• Manage and monitor contract and grant financial activities, ensuring compliance with university and sponsor requirements.
• Review, prepare, and approve financial transactions, reconciliations, account maintenance, and adjustments within the Kuali Financial System.
• Advise faculty, staff, and department administrators on financial policies, procedures, procurement, and internal controls.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, streamline operations, and enhance service delivery.

Required Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in finance or business with at least 2-4 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Experience interpreting and managing sponsored funding, grants, contracts, and related policies.
• Experience with financial reporting, account reconciliation, and preparing routine and ad hoc reports.
• Strong communication and customer service skills, with experience supporting procurement and financial transactions.
• Ability to understand and apply complex financial policies and procedures while ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Ability to collaborate effectively, solve problems, and improve financial processes and internal controls.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in finance or business.

Important Details about the Position

• This is an onsite position located in Ithaca, NY.
• This is a hybrid position with the ability to work 3 days remote and 2 days in office per week.
• We are unable to provide Visa sponsorship, now or in the future, for this position.
• Relocation assistance will not be provided for this position.

While the regular business hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, the specific schedule may change to meet the needs of the business, requiring employees to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and University holidays and scheduled breaks.
