Über diese Finance Manager Stelle bei Cxnpl
The Role
You will be our first Finance Manager, reporting to the Head of Finance. You will own the accounting engine of a business that is scaling and going global, and you will be hands-on in the numbers every day.
You will also shape what our finance function becomes: which processes we bring in-house and when, how we automate them, and when we add people to the team. You will work alongside our Head of Finance, who leads planning, forecasting, capital raising, and the board, and you will provide the actuals and analysis behind that work.
You will work with our auditors, tax advisers, and local providers in new markets, and with teams across the business who rely on clean, timely numbers, including our bank customers when they request financial information. This role suits someone who wants to do the work themselves and help define its scope. It is not a role for building and managing a large team in your first year.
We are a fast-growing startup with momentum. LinkedIn ranked us #5 on its Top Startups Australia list in 2024 and named us again on the 2026 list. We are signing new bank customers and expanding into new markets.
What you will do
- Own the month-end close, general ledger, reconciliations, and management accounts, to a standard an auditor would sign off.
- Own revenue recognition for our enterprise contracts under AASB 15.
- Run the statutory audit, from planning to sign-off.
- Own our annual R&D Tax Incentive claim, including eligible cost apportionment, supporting evidence and documentation, and the link to capitalised development costs, working with our R&D advisers.
- Manage tax compliance, including BAS, PAYG, FBT, payroll tax, and superannuation, and work with our advisers on income tax.
- Own payroll and financial controls.
- Manage consolidation, intercompany, and FX as we add entities in new markets.
- Map our finance processes and recommend which to bring in-house, which to keep with specialist partners, and in what order. Then lead the transitions at a pace you set with the Head of Finance.
- Look to automation and AI first, and help the business decide when to add people and what kind of capacity we need, so finance stays lean and high-leverage as we scale.
- Design and build automation across the close, reconciliations, and reporting, with the right controls around it.
- Recommend and lead the system changes we need as we scale internationally.
- Provide the actuals and analysis behind forecasting, board reporting, and fundraising.
Who you are
- You are CA or CPA qualified (required).
- You have 3–5 years in audit at a Big 4 or large mid-tier firm, ideally with technology, software, or financial services clients.
- You have 2–4 years in-house as a Senior Financial Accountant, Finance Manager, or similar, doing the close yourself.
- You have hands-on experience with AASB 15 revenue recognition on complex enterprise contracts.
- You have exposure to consolidating multiple entities, including intercompany and FX.
- You have a record of building or fixing finance processes, not only running them.
- You have automated or built something that runs today, such as scripts, workflow tools, ERP rules, or AI-assisted processes.
- You are an ambitious doer who wants your work to have a big impact.
- You prefer doing the work to reviewing it, and you would rather help define your scope than be handed a fixed one.
- You are excited to challenge yourself in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Nice to have
- Experience at a venture-backed software company scaling through 100–300 people.
- Experience bringing an outsourced finance process in-house.
- Experience with R&D Tax Incentive claims or capitalised development costs.
- Experience setting up or running overseas entities, payroll, or transfer pricing.
- Experience leading an ERP migration, for example from Xero to NetSuite.
- Experience supporting vendor due diligence for banks or other regulated customers.
