The Opportunity:
Provide direct, on-site customer support for the installation, sustainment, and repair of complex equipment and systems supporting Department of Defense mission requirements. As a Field Service Engineer III, you will:
Perform on-site product and solution installation, checkout, and sustainment activities for fielded systems
Diagnose, troubleshoot, service, and repair complex equipment and systems in operational environments
Serve as the company liaison with the customer on administrative and technical matters for assigned projects
Instruct customers in the proper operation and maintenance of fielded solutions
Interpret customer needs, define next steps, and clarify responsibility for problem resolution
Support any aspect of field support, including system hardware, software, network, and other technical infrastructure components
Responsibilities:
Oversee and/or perform diagnostic, troubleshooting, and repair activities for complex fielded equipment and systems
Check out and approve the operational quality of solution components prior to customer acceptance
Provide hands-on technical training and instruction to customer personnel on system operation and maintenance
Serve as the primary technical point of contact for field-level customer support activities
Coordinate with engineering, logistics, and program management teams to resolve field issues and minimize system downtime
Document field service activities, maintenance actions, and equipment status in accordance with program reporting requirements
Support system upgrades, technology refresh, and configuration changes at customer sites
Coach and review the work of lower-level field service technicians and engineers
Work independently with limited supervision while managing field service projects and processes
Influence system design, solutions, and procedures based on field experience and customer feedback
Travel to various customer and operational sites as required to support field service and sustainment activities
Qualifications:
Required:
Active Secret security clearance (required)
Master's degree in an Engineering discipline
7+ years of professional experience in field service engineering or related technical support
Demonstrated experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex equipment and systems in an operational environment
Strong understanding of system hardware, software, and network infrastructure components
Experience serving as a technical liaison between customers and engineering/program teams
Ability to work independently with limited supervision in field environments
Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to instruct customers on system operation and maintenance
Demonstrated ability to coach and review the work of lower-level technical staff
Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to resolve difficult and sometimes complex technical issues
Willingness and ability to travel to customer and operational sites as required
Desired:
Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility
Experience supporting C5ISR, SIGINT, EW, or intelligence systems in a field environment
Familiarity with CMOSS/MORA interface standards and VPX architectures
Experience with system integration, testing, and acceptance procedures
Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and logistics support planning
Experience with technical documentation, including field service reports and maintenance logs
Familiarity with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and secure system configurations
Understanding of Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes as they relate to fielded systems
Previous experience supporting government program offices or defense contractors
Experience training end-users on system operation and troubleshooting techniques
Knowledge of tactical communications, networking, or RF systems

The proposed salary range for this position is:
$67,800 - 142,200 USD
