The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Global Logistics Industrial Engineer, you will play a key role in advancing 3M’s trade compliance operations, broker performance management, data integration, and continuous improvement capabilities. You will support initiatives that standardize customs filing management, improve broker productivity, strengthen operational visibility, and enable performance monitoring through control tower integration. This role will focus on validating and implementing standardized broker management processes, optimizing broker contracts, improving filing performance, integrating broker and customs data into enterprise visibility platforms, and delivering measurable productivity and cost improvements. You will partner closely with Trade Compliance, Logistics, Customs Brokers, Procurement, IT, Finance, Transportation Operations, regional teams, and external partners to ensure solutions are scalable, compliant, adopted, and translated into realized business value.

Your Skills and Expertise
- Lead trade compliance operations analytics initiatives focused on broker management, customs filing performance, productivity improvement, and operational risk visibility.
- Validate and implement standardized filing management programs to improve process consistency, accuracy, productivity, and governance across broker operations.
- Support broker contract standardization and optimization, including spend transparency, service-level expectations, productivity metrics, and performance governance.
- Develop and implement broker performance management frameworks, including scorecards, KPIs, dashboards, service-level monitoring, and exception management routines.
- Partner with IT, data teams, trade compliance, logistics, and external brokers to integrate broker, customs, transportation, and operational data into control tower environments.
- Build automated reporting and business intelligence solutions using tools such as Power BI, Alteryx, SQL, Excel, Tableau, Python, or related technologies.
- Apply industrial engineering, operations research, statistical analysis, process modeling, and continuous improvement methods to identify productivity and standardization opportunities.
- Analyze customs filing workflows, broker performance, cycle times, cost drivers, and exception trends to identify root causes and recommend practical improvements.
- Convert complex operational and compliance-related data into clear, actionable recommendations for business leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Track value realization, communicate progress to leadership, and support implementation plans to ensure productivity, cost, service, and governance targets are achieved.
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Research, Data Science, Engineering, Business, International Trade, Operations, or a related field, completed and verified prior to start.
- Minimum 5 years of combined experience in logistics, trade compliance operations, customs brokerage, supply chain, industrial engineering, data analytics, process improvement, business operations, or related fields.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Supply Chain, Logistics, Data Science, Business Administration, International Trade, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications such as Lean Six Sigma, PMP, APICS, CSCP, CLTD, analytics, customs brokerage, or supply chain certification.
- Experience in customs brokerage operations, import/export processes, broker management, customs filing performance, or trade compliance operations.
- Strong knowledge of broker performance management, including contract governance, supplier scorecards, productivity tracking, service-level monitoring, and continuous improvement routines.
- Experience designing or supporting control tower capabilities, including performance visibility, exception management, broker connectivity, and operational data integration.
- Proficiency with data analysis, automation, modeling, or visualization tools such as Excel, Power BI, SQL, Python, Alteryx, Tableau, or related technologies.
- Experience applying AI into logistics and supply chain environment is preferred.
- Experience integrating data from broker systems, customs platforms, ERP, TMS, SAP, transportation databases, EDI, APIs, or other logistics and trade-related systems.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex processes, identify root causes, develop practical solutions, and implement improvements across multiple stakeholders.
- Experience applying operations research, statistical analysis, workflow optimization, or predictive analytics to improve operational performance.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to translate technical data, process insights, and operational risks into clear executive-level recommendations.
- Experience leading regional or global projects, including stakeholder alignment, governance, change management, benefits tracking, and executive communication.
- Experience working with operational data, performance reporting, dashboards, process improvement, or productivity initiatives.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders and external partners to support implementation of process or performance improvements.
Work location:
- Wroclaw, PL - at least 4 days per week in office
Travel: May include up to 10% domestic and/or international travel.
