Job Description – Senior PMO / Executive PMO
Location

Role Summary
We are looking for a high-calibre Senior PMO who can operate as a trusted advisor to programme leadership. This role requires an individual who excels at executive stakeholder engagement, builds world-class Excel-based reporting and dashboards, and confidently drives senior governance forums. The successful candidate will combine analytical rigour with executive presence to provide meaningful insights, influence decision-making, and continuously improve programme governance.
Key Responsibilities
Executive Stakeholder Engagement
- Build trusted relationships with senior business and technology stakeholders, including Directors, Managing Directors, and Executive Sponsors.
- Act as the primary PMO interface for programme leadership, ensuring timely communication of programme status, risks, decisions, and dependencies.
- Influence stakeholders through data-driven insights and structured recommendations.
- Prepare executives for governance meetings by developing concise briefing notes and decision papers.
Executive Governance & Leadership Forums
- Own the planning, coordination, and facilitation of Steering Committees, Executive Governance Boards, Programme Reviews, and Leadership Forums.
- Develop executive-ready governance packs, presentations, and decision logs.
- Drive governance cadence, ensuring actions, risks, and decisions are tracked to closure.
- Challenge programme teams where required to ensure governance standards and delivery commitments are met.
Advanced Reporting & Excel Analytics
- Design and maintain sophisticated Excel dashboards using advanced formulas, Pivot Tables, Power Query, Power Pivot, data modelling, and automation.
- Produce executive dashboards that provide meaningful insights into programme health, financials, milestones, risks, dependencies, and KPIs.
- Transform complex datasets into clear, visually compelling reports for senior leadership.
- Continuously improve reporting by introducing automation and reducing manual effort.
Programme Governance & PMO Excellence
- Manage programme plans, RAID logs, milestones, dependencies, and governance artefacts.
- Ensure adherence to PMO standards, methodologies, and reporting frameworks.
- Support portfolio planning, resource management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial tracking.
- Maintain accurate programme documentation and audit-ready governance records.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve programme governance, reporting, and delivery effectiveness.
- Recommend and implement practical, scalable process improvements.
- Introduce innovative reporting techniques, automation, and best practices that enhance decision-making.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement across the programme.
Required Skills & Experience
Mandatory
- 15+ years of PMO, Programme Management, or Portfolio Governance experience.
- Demonstrated experience supporting C-suite or Executive-level stakeholders.
- Proven ability to lead senior governance forums and executive steering committees.
- Expert-level Microsoft Excel skills, including:
- Advanced formulas (INDEX/MATCH, XLOOKUP, SUMPRODUCT, etc.)
- Pivot Tables & Pivot Charts
- Power Query
- Power Pivot
- Dynamic dashboards
- Data modelling and automation
- VBA/macros (preferred)
- Exceptional PowerPoint skills with experience creating board-level presentations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication with executive-level presentation skills.
- Ability to synthesise complex information into concise executive insights.
Preferred
- Experience in Financial Services, Banking, or large consulting-led transformation programmes.
- Power BI or Tableau expertise.
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, MS Project, Smartsheet, or Clarity.
- PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, or Scrum certifications.
