Events and Student Experience Manager (part-time, 28 hrs./week)

Join the Ballard Center for Social Impact and help create experiences that connect BYU students with opportunities to make a meaningful difference. As the ¾-time Events and Student Experience Manager, you will coordinate student events, supervise student teams, and help students discover the Global and Community Impact minor and other Ballard Center opportunities.

Working with students, faculty, staff, and campus partners, you’ll create welcoming experiences and use feedback and data to strengthen student engagement. Your work will directly support the Ballard Center’s mission to develop the faith and skills to solve social problems and help students turn their education and values into meaningful impact.

What you’ll do in this position:

  • Lead the planning and execution of Ballard Center events from concept through follow-up.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and mentor student employees, fostering a collaborative and accountable team culture.
  • Oversee peer advisement and student pathways connecting students with the GCI minor, Ballard Center programs, and social impact opportunities.
  • Lead student engagement efforts that create welcoming and meaningful experiences across events, advising, and outreach.
  • Build strong partnerships with faculty, academic advisors, student organizations, and campus offices to expand awareness of Ballard Center opportunities.
  • Use participation data and student feedback to evaluate programs, identify opportunities, and improve the student experience.
  • Represent the Ballard Center with professionalism and hospitality when working with students, university leaders, guests, and community partners.

What qualifies you for this role:

Required

  • Commitment to the mission of BYU and the Ballard Center for Social Impact.
  • Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience in event management, student services, project management, program administration, or a related area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience planning and coordinating events or projects involving multiple timelines, stakeholders, budgets, and operational details.
  • Experience supervising, training, coaching, or mentoring employees, students, or volunteers.
  • Strong organizational, communication, project management, and problem-solving skills, with sound judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, university leaders, guests, and community partners.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, business, communications, nonprofit management, public administration, or a related field.
  • Four or more years of relevant experience in event management, student services, project management, program administration, or related areas.
  • Experience in a university, educational, nonprofit, faith-based, or other mission-driven organization, with experience in student engagement, peer advisement, campus outreach, or student employee development.
  • Experience managing event budgets, vendors, contracts, speaker processes, or post-event assessment, with knowledge of BYU policies, campus resources, and the BYU student experience.

Pay Grade: 50

Typical Starting Pay: $25.75 to $33.50 an hour
