Responsibilities:

• Cleans ancillary & emergency room areas, exam rooms, offices, waiting areas, public restrooms, and other assigned areas outpatient non-surgical settings.
• Cleaning duties include use of appropriate cleaning products in wiping down surfaces, cleaning spills, emptying garbage cans, cleaning furniture and other tasks as assigned.
• Stocks paper items and other supplies in exam rooms and restroom as necessary.  Informs team leader and supervisory team when low on supplies.
• Follows departmental policies and standard operating procedures.
• Follows and adheres to hospital wide and departmental quality and safety requirements.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education:

• High School Diploma/General Education Development (GED) preferred.

• None required.

Complexity of Work:

• Requires attention to detail, ability to follow directions and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to learn and follow departmental policies and procedures, various cleaning and patient hospitality techniques, proper use and storage of cleaning agents and chemicals.
• Ability to communicate in a clear, courteous and caring manner.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced cleaning environment.
• Ability to be flexible with work assignments.

Work Experience:

• Requires one to three months on-the-job training to learn developmental policies and procedures, various cleaning techniques, proper use and storage of cleaning agents and chemicals.

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full body motion, including ability to perform work while lifting, bending, stooping, crouching, squatting, and reaching.
• Requires continuous walking and standing on hard surfaces.
• Requires regular handling and use of disinfectants and other cleaning agents and chemicals.
• Light work – Exerting 11 to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
