The Role:
Our site in Colorado Springs, CO - Rockrimmon is seeking an EHS Co-Op to join our team for the Spring 2027 season. This assignment is intended to be full-time, 6 months in duration.
The EHS Co-op will play a key role in supporting and strengthening site Environmental, Health & Safety programs. This position will assist with regulatory inspections and audits, contribute innovative ideas that drive continuous improvement initiatives, and proactively support employees and leaders at all levels in creating a safer workplace. The co-op will also participate in incident investigations, help identify root causes and corrective actions, and support the development and communication of EHS initiatives, policies, and safety-related information across the organization.
What You’ll Do:
Learn about day in the life of EHS
Assist in regulatory inspections
Engage with all levels of the organization
Assist with trainings, New Hire, proactive engagement activities
Support Continuous improvement of EHS
Data management and recordkeeping
Incident investigations and corrective and preventive actions implementation
What We Seek:
Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, Sustainability, Engineering, or a related field.
Basic understanding of environmental, health, and safety principles through coursework, projects, or previous work experience.
Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail when managing documentation, records, and compliance-related activities.
Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
Desired Major(s) & Graduation Year:
Environmental Engineering, Safety Science, Environmental Toxicology, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering
Must be enrolled in an undergraduate/graduate program with a graduation date of December 2027 or later
Eligibility:
Must be a currently enrolled student
Available to work 40 hours a week, M-F (8a-5p) beginning in January through June
Must be familiar with the university’s requirements to participate in a co-op program

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
100% on site, must be able to lift 30lbs, may work in loud environments and near chemicals, protection always provided

Compensation: $20-$30/hour range with actual pay dependent on candidate overall skills for the role.
