Go1 helps organisations build capable, compliant and future-ready workforces through trusted learning. As an Engineering Manager, you lead teams within one or multiple domains, building effective, inclusive teams that deliver sustainably software that improves customer outcomes and supports Go1's organisational priorities. You are accountable for the health of the team and the systems it owns.
Your work connects engineering execution to customer and organisational goals. You help teams make clear choices about value, delivery pace, cost, quality and long-term system health. Engineers work directly with Product Managers, designers and data partners, while senior technical leaders guide detailed technical decisions. You set context, make collaboration effective and bring enough technical judgement to assess trade-offs and grow capability.
Go1 is working towards an AI-native way of working and has launched Morgan by Go1, its Workforce Enablement product. Powered by Go1's learning ecosystem, Morgan connects workforce signals, learning intelligence and business priorities to coordinate follow-through and strengthen capability. Depending on the domain, this role may help turn those priorities into reliable, secure product experiences.
What You Will Do
- Drive delivery from idea to impact: Lead teams from problem definition through release and learning. Measure success by customer and business outcomes, not just features shipped.
- Turn strategy into execution: Align goals, priorities, and trade-offs with Product Managers and stakeholders. Address delivery risks with the team and communicate their impact early.
- Enable teams to own outcomes: Give engineers ownership, customer insight, and product data. Build direct relationships with Product, Design, and Data so they can make informed decisions and learn from results.
- Uphold engineering excellence: Use technical judgement, partner with senior engineers on direction, and contribute code when useful. Keep quality, testing, security, and maintainability high, and guide AI-assisted development without losing engineering depth.
- Lead and grow people: Hire, coach, and support engineers. Set clear expectations, manage performance fairly, and build an inclusive team that develops product thinking alongside technical skill.
- Champion operational excellence: Own software after release, including reliability, performance, cost, and defects. Learn from incidents and improve the systems and practices behind sustainable delivery.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience leading and developing software engineers, including in remote or distributed teams.
- Ability to work with Product Managers and stakeholders to turn broad goals into clear priorities and navigate competing needs.
- Technical judgement across software development and cloud-based systems, including quality, security, and operations; comfortable coding when useful and supporting engineers who lead technical decisions.
- Experience using customer insight and evidence to guide trade-offs, assess results, and improve team effectiveness.
- A practical approach to AI-assisted development that supports effective delivery while preserving engineering fundamentals.
What Will Set You Apart
- Inclusive, empowering leadership that builds trust and helps engineers take ownership.
- Clear communication across written, verbal, and asynchronous channels.
- Curiosity about users and the business, openness to challenge assumptions, and willingness to change course when evidence warrants it.
- Pragmatic judgement that balances immediate business needs with long-term technical health.
