POSITION SUMMARY

Kraken Kinetics is seeking an Engineering Configuration Management Specialist to coordinate and administer the release, control, and maintenance of engineering documentation throughout product development, production, and sustainment.

This role will serve as the coordinator for engineering releases, engineering change orders (ECOs), and product configuration management, ensuring that technical documentation is complete, properly reviewed, formally approved, and maintained as a controlled product baseline.

The position will play an important role in implementing and maturing Kraken's engineering release and configuration management processes, with Arena PLM serving as the primary system for managing released engineering information.

We are looking for a detail-oriented, process-minded individual who is comfortable taking ownership of day-to-day activities while helping establish practical, scalable workflows. This is a hands-on position that requires strong organizational skills, technical aptitude, and the ability to work effectively across engineering and production teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the preparation, review, approval, formal release, and archival of engineering documentation, including drawings, BOMs, firmware releases, specifications, test procedures, and related technical records.

  • Help establish, standardize, and improve engineering release, document control, and configuration management practices as the organization grows.

  • Assemble and administer engineering release packages, verifying completeness of documentation, revision consistency, and required approvals before formal release.

  • Administer engineering change request (ECR) and engineering change order (ECO) workflows, including change documentation, review coordination, approval routing, and formal closure.

  • Work with responsible engineers to ensure affected technical documentation is appropriately updated and released following approved engineering changes.

  • Maintain accurate, traceable product configurations, including relationships between part numbers, revisions, BOMs, firmware versions, and supporting documentation.

  • Track provisional or limited production releases, coordinating outstanding documentation requirements and closure activities with responsible stakeholders.

  • Maintain controlled engineering records and administer release and change management activities within Arena PLM.

  • Coordinate the communication and handoff of released engineering information to Operations, Production, Supply Chain, and other downstream stakeholders.

  • Identify documentation gaps, configuration discrepancies, incomplete change records, and process breakdowns, coordinating resolution or escalation as appropriate.

  • Support technical review, change review, and engineering approval processes.

  • Collaborate with Engineering and Operations to improve the accuracy and flow of engineering information into downstream business systems, including NetSuite ERP.

  • Coach engineers and operations associates on how the various procedures work and advise them as to which procedures are applicable to the current task.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Experience in engineering document control, configuration management, product data management, manufacturing documentation, or a related technical support role.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously.

  • Familiarity with revision-controlled documentation, engineering change processes, or structured technical document workflows.

  • Ability to read and navigate engineering drawings, BOMs, specifications, and other technical documentation.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to coordinate effectively across engineering, manufacturing, and other functional teams.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, Word, SharePoint, and Teams.

  • Demonstrated initiative, ownership, and ability to identify and resolve documentation or process gaps.

  • Experience working effectively with engineering management and senior engineers on change control and configuration processes.

  • Ability to work effectively in a growing organization with evolving tools, processes, and priorities.

Preferred

  • 2+ years of experience in engineering document control, configuration management, product data management, or a related role.

  • Experience coordinating ECOs, ECRs, engineering releases, or product configuration changes.

  • Experience with PLM, PDM, or ERP systems, particularly Arena PLM, NetSuite, 3DEXPERIENCE, Altium 365, or similar tools.

  • Experience in defense, aerospace, electronics, manufacturing, or other controlled technical product environments.

  • Familiarity with ITAR, EAR, security classification, and the handling of controlled or sensitive technical data.

  • Experience supporting product development, new product introduction (NPI), manufacturing releases, or production sustainment.

  • Familiarity with engineering BOMs, product baselines, revision management, and formal engineering approval workflows.

  • Experience implementing or improving engineering document control and release processes.

  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, or related quality and configuration management practices.

Benefits included:

  • Generous PTO policy

  • Comprehensive medical coverage (80% company-paid for employee + dependents).

  • Vision & dental (100% company-paid)

  • Short and long-term disability coverage (100% company-paid)
