Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Electrician with low voltage systems experience to join our growing technical operations team. In this role, you will install, troubleshoot, and maintain a wide variety of electrical and low voltage systems across our facilities and customer sites — including power distribution, instrumentation, security, access control, surveillance, and structured cabling. You will work alongside engineers and project leads to ensure all systems meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Systems
- Install, configure, calibrate, and maintain electrical systems including sensors, controllers, and control panels.
- Proficient in conduit installation including EMT, Rigid, and use of hydraulic benders.
- Knowledge of Class 1, Division 1 electrical installations.
- Experienced with proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) applications and arc flash boundary safety.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults using test equipment such as multimeters, meggers, and thermal cameras.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, loop diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Ensure all work complies with NEC, NFPA 70E, and applicable OSHA standards.
- Knowledge of operating elevated work platforms.
- Perform Corrective and preventative maintenance and submit into CMMS accordingly.
- Support additional duties for operational needs
Low Voltage Systems
- Install, terminate, test, and commission low voltage cabling and equipment including CCTV/IP cameras, access control, intrusion detection, structured cabling (Cat5e/Cat6/fiber), intercoms, and AV systems.
- Configure and program control panels, IP cameras, VMS platforms, and access control systems.
- Understanding of TCP/IP networking fundamentals, VLANs, and PoE as applied to physical security systems.
- Knowledge of applicable codes including NFPA 72, NEC Article 725, and TIA-568/606 standards.
Documentation & Coordination
- Document all work performed including calibration records, maintenance logs, and as-built drawings.
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and other technicians to support project schedules and deliverables.
- Participate in commissioning, startup, and testing activities for new installations.
- Provide technical guidance to field crews and junior technicians; review work for quality and code compliance.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and provide technical feedback to engineering teams.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; completion of an accredited electrical apprenticeship or technical program preferred.
- Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on experience with electrical systems in an industrial, commercial, or field service environment.
- Experience with at least one low voltage system type: IP video/VMS, access control, intrusion alarms, structured cabling, or AV systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and P&IDs.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to customer sites as required.
Preferred Qualifications & Certifications
Candidates with the following certifications and skills will receive priority consideration:
- Journeyman Electrician license
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Construction/General Industry certification
- NFPA 70E Arc Flash Safety training
- Experience with DCS/SCADA/PLC systems; working knowledge of 4–20 mA loops, HART protocol, and analog/digital signal troubleshooting
- Industry certifications such as BICSI, ESA/NTS, Lenel OnGuard, Genetec, or Axis
- Experience in defense, aerospace, or government facility environments (ICD 705, SCIF)
- Prior military technical MOS or equivalent service background is a plus
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Work may be performed indoors and outdoors in varied weather and environmental conditions.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined spaces, at heights, and on ladders or scaffolding.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required and provided.
- Some travel and occasional extended hours may be required to meet project deadlines.
Security & Clearance
Some positions or projects may require the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance (Secret or above); active clearance preferred. U.S. citizenship or permanent residency may be required. Voyager Technologies conducts pre-employment background checks and drug screening.
The good faith base hourly range is $31.50 - $40.00 for this role is at the time of this posting. Where you fall within the range depends on your experience, skills, and location. This range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or bonus/incentive. This range may be adjusted in the future.
