Purpose of the role

To support the Risk Function in delivering it’s objective of safeguarding the bank's financial and operational stability by proactively identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring risks across various business units and activities.

Accountabilities

• Development of strategic direction for risk, including the implementation of up-to-date methodologies and processes.
• Management of the risk department, including oversight of risk colleagues and their performance, implementation of risk priorities and objectives, oversight of department efficiency and effectiveness.
• Relationship management of risk stakeholders, including identifying relevant stakeholders, and maintenance of the quality of external third-party services.
• Adherence to the Risk policy, standards and frameworks, and maintaining a robust control environment.

Join us as Delivery Lead where you will be responsible for delivering Business Banking's Economic Crime transformation agenda, leading complex change programmes across Technology and Operations to strengthen risk and controls in KYC, Sanctions, Transaction Monitoring and Fraud to lead the defence against key economic crime taxonomies. Working within a programme management structure, you will drive delivery through effective operating models, governance, and tools to reduce Financial Crime risk and achieve strategic outcomes.

To be successful as an Economic Crime Delivery Lead, you must have the following essential skills:

• Proven experience delivering complex change and transformation programmes, including operational changes, remediations, and technical builds, with considerable expertise in risk, controls, business and delivery management aligned to strategic objectives.
• Worked with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
• Been accountable for delivery standards and had delivery assured by Compliance or Audit.
• Extensive Economic Crime experience, with a deep understanding of AML, Screening, KYC, Transaction Monitoring, Fraud and Scam prevention, financial crime typologies, associated risks, and industry best practice.
• Experience leveraging Machine Learning and AI-driven enhancements to improve Economic Crime detection, prevention, and operational efficiency.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and influence matrix teams in a fast-paced environment, identifying risks and blockers, driving solutions, and escalating issues appropriately to ensure successful delivery against changing priorities.
• People leadership experience, with the ability to lead, coach, and develop high performing teams in a complex environment.

Some other highly valued skills may include

• Knowledge of Business Banking customers, sectors and products.
• Hold a PRINCE2 Project Management Certification.
• Recognised Financial Crime qualification, such as ICA AML Diploma, ACAMS or equivalent.
• Experience leading or contributing to deep-dive thematic reviews, risk assessments, or regulatory remediation activities.
• Control definition and design experience.
