Über diese Director Technology & IT Operations (m/f/d) Stelle bei A11
About the Job
As a key growth accelerator, A11 partners with Europe's most ambitious startups, scaleups, corporates and SMBs to connect them with top-tier talent ready to make an impact.
We're looking for an experienced Director Technology & IT Operations (m/f/d) to lead and scale the technology, architecture and operations of a connected-fleet software company entering its most exciting growth phase yet. As Director Technology & IT Operations, you'll own the full tech strategy of a business that is clearing the last of its legacy platforms and shifting fully into scale mode - targeting roughly a 10x increase in connected assets. You'll lead the team, empower the layer beneath you, and turn a market-ready platform into the engine for a wave of new data-driven and AI-powered products.
Join the A11 Ecosystem
Our partner company is a telematics software company and develops a single platform for real-time vehicle tracking, route optimisation, refuelling and fuel-data insights, digital tachograph and fleet analytics. It is the connected-fleet and telematics arm of a leading European B2B mobility group. The group is one of the continent's largest on-the-road payment and mobility platforms - fuel and EV charging, tolls, vehicle services and financial solutions for hundreds of thousands of commercial fleet and logistics customers across Europe.
It operates with the autonomy of a scale-up and the backing of a major mobility player - with more than a third of the company made up of engineers, it builds and runs its own platform end to end, in-house. The new platform is live, the last legacy systems are on their way out, and the mandate now is to scale it and unlock the data intelligence that drives real value across the wider group. Freedom to decide, funding to execute, and a product that's ready to grow.
In this role, you’ll:
- Own the tech strategy: technology, architecture, platform and operations, translating the product roadmap into a scalable technical one
- Lead the organization: grow a ~20-person team spanning software development, architecture, QA, UI/UX, IoT, platform and IT operations, across on-site and remote
- Build the leadership layer: develop your team leads into a strong, autonomous next level and shape a modern, empowerment-driven engineering culture
- Scale the platform: support roughly 10x growth in connected assets while keeping platform and operating costs growing slower than the fleet
- Build and modernise: drive the shift from legacy toward new, differentiating capabilities - including AI-enabled software delivery and AI-/data-driven services on top of the platform's vehicle data - while bringing structure to a grown platform, its data governance and the last of its legacy landscape
- Bridge to the group: act as the technology interface to the wider mobility group, aligning closely with product, group tech and commercial stakeholders
- Own the numbers: budget, external partners and KPI reporting for your area
Your Profile:
- 5+ years of leadership experience in technology / IT organizations of comparable scope, ideally across multiple domains
- A genuine software-development background - enough technical depth to earn the trust of a strong engineering team
- Proven experience building and operating scalable digital platforms, cloud and IT operations
- Comfortable navigating a larger group or corporate environment: stakeholder management, cross-functional alignment
- A leadership style built on vision, clarity, ownership and developing people
- Fluent German and English required
- A plus, not a must: hands-on experience with IoT, telematics or connectivity platforms
Location: Regular on-site presence (at least 40% of your time) at the company's Austrian HQ is required, flexibly bundled (e.g. alternating weeks).
Benefits and Perks:
- Freedom to build & real ownership — end-to-end responsibility for the tech stack of an independently operating software company, where you shape how technology is run rather than following someone else's playbook
- Backing without the treadmill: a long-term growth mandate funded by a major group and its owner family, not a startup chasing the next investment round
- A product ready to scale: the platform is live and the legacy systems are (nearly) gone by the time you start, so your job is to scale and build new capabilities, not rebuild the old
- Real ownership: end-to-end responsibility for the tech stack of an in-house software company with genuine decision-making room
If you’re eager to join the A11 Ecosystem and shape what’s next, we want to hear from you!
