About the Role

The Director, Technical AI Solutions is accountable for translating BetMGM’s AI strategy into a prioritized, governed, and executable portfolio of AI initiatives. This role owns the AI portfolio intake and delivery model, partnering closely with PMO to balance business value, delivery capacity, risk, and timing.

The Director leads AI delivery through a Technical AI Director/Builder responsible for AWS-based platforms, agentic frameworks, and early use cases—ensuring solutions move efficiently from intake to production while meeting enterprise standards for security, compliance, and scalability.
This role blends portfolio leadership, delivery accountability, and platform stewardship.

Responsibilities

  • Own the AI portfolio intake process, including intake criteria, evaluation frameworks, and prioritization mechanisms, in close partnership with PMO to align AI demand with enterprise planning cycles, capacity management, and dependencies.

  • Evaluate AI opportunities based on business value, measurable outcomes, technical feasibility, delivery effort, risk, compliance considerations, time‑to‑impact, and scalability potential.

  • Maintain a transparent, prioritized AI roadmap and communicate sequencing decisions, tradeoffs, and delivery status to executive and cross‑functional stakeholders.

  • Translate enterprise AI strategy and approved portfolio priorities into an executable delivery roadmap with clear milestones, ownership, and success metrics.

  • Define, track, and report on realized value from AI initiatives, including cost reduction, revenue enablement, customer experience improvements, and operational efficiency gains.

  • Establish and own the AI delivery operating model, including standardized AI and agent SDLC practices, production readiness criteria, release management, monitoring, and incident response.

  • Define reusable architecture patterns, tooling standards, and platform guardrails that enable consistent, secure, and scalable AI solution delivery.

  • Provide leadership, direction, and oversight to the Technical AI Director/Builder responsible for AWS‑based AI platforms, agentic frameworks, core infrastructure, and early production use cases.

  • Balance rapid experimentation and proof‑of‑value delivery with long‑term platform sustainability, reliability, and enterprise readiness.

  • Partner with Security, Legal, Compliance, and Technology Risk teams to operationalize AI governance and ensure solutions meet regulatory, privacy, and security requirements.

  • Ensure AI risk management is embedded into delivery processes through built‑in controls, monitoring, and clearly defined escalation paths.

  • Serve as the primary AI delivery partner to Product, Operations, Marketing, Customer Experience, and Technology teams, translating technical progress into business‑relevant insights.

  • Manage cross‑functional dependencies and resolve delivery risks, blockers, and prioritization conflicts using sound judgment and enterprise‑level perspective.

  • Lead, coach, and develop AI leaders and senior contributors, establishing clear goals, expectations, and development paths.

  • Build workforce and hiring plans aligned to the growth and maturity of the AI portfolio and platform capabilities.

Qualifications

Required

  • 10+ years in software/data/ML engineering leadership, including responsibility for delivering production platforms or mission-critical services.

  • Proven experience scaling delivery from proof-of-concept to production (operating model, quality, reliability, stakeholder management).

  • Strong cloud and modern engineering background (e.g., AWS ecosystem; CI/CD; observability; security fundamentals).

  • Demonstrated ability to manage leaders (e.g., managing a “builder” director/manager-level role) and drive outcomes through others.

Preferred

  • Experience delivering AI/ML platforms or agent-based/automation solutions in production.

  • Familiarity with model risk management, governance patterns, and enterprise data/privacy constraints.

  • Experience in highly regulated or consumer-facing digital products where reliability, security, and trust are essential.

  • Strong vendor/partner management experience (platform tools, consultancies, managed services).
