BUSINESS TITLE: Director, Retail

LOCATION:  Shanghai

The incumbent is responsible for the overall retail business performance in China to ensure all retail related areas including P&L management, operations efficiency, inventory management, manpower management, customer service, merchandise presentation and shop maintenance are well managed and geared towards the attainment of sales and profit maximization

Principal Accountabilities

Strategic Vision and Business Planning:

• Provide leadership and vision in the development and implementation of the strategic direction for China retail business.
• Ensure China country retail plans & strategies are calibrated both with global brand direction and Asia Retail strategy.
• Develop mid- and long-term strategies to achieve growth projections.

Elevate Premium Consumer Experience in Retail:

• Close cooperation with Retail Project, Retail Marketing, VM to ensure store setup & image keep evolvement with China customers shopping habits/behaviors.
• Partnership with Product, Marketing to create and maintain strategic customer recruiting plans with clearly defined objectives, desired outcomes, and a calendar of events.
• Consistently improve retail productivity and showcase the best practice for retail excellence; Test & learn in own retail first and cascade down to dealers.

Build a Successful Retail Team in China embed with Purpose and Culture:

• Lead regional retail teams in China in developing and ensuring success of their retail stores.
• Partnership with HR/VFRA on resource planning, retail STAR review, capability building and succession planning to support growth of the business.
• Review retail team's performance and coach for development on regular basis.
• Develop and implement an effective staff engagement program to minimize retail staff turnover and ensure company purpose & brand culture are upheld.

Lead in Smart Retail Execution

• Partnership with relevant stakeholders to establish smart retail processes which are efficient and customer-centric.
• Integrate resources through online and offline platforms to achieve consistent and effective consumer strikes.
• Close cooperation with internal & external stakeholders to drive smart retail conclusions and agreed milestones.

Retail Operations Excellence:

• Responsible for the overall success of retail operations driving sales, reinforcing operations, and store leadership management & development.

• Formulate and implement retail operation policy and procedure, seek innovation where necessary to ensure the business is carried out effectively to achieve the targets.
• Understand the local market, monitor key players and its market share, analyze and identify sales driver opportunities with marketing and product teams.

Establish Strategic Relationship with Business Development Partners:

• Responsible for shop opening and relocation by evaluating and analyzing site potential.
• Develop and maintain strong partnerships with business development partners to negotiate best opportunities.
• Close cooperation with retail project to ensure store format, setup & image keep evolvement with strategic city positioning.

Qualification & Experience Needed

Education:

• Bachelor degree above, or equivalent through experiences.

Experience: 

• 12+ years progressive experiences in similar job capacity, with 6+ years in managerial roles;

Language:

• Fluent oral and written English;
• Excellent spoken and written Chinese

Computer:

• Good computer operation skill, particularly Microsoft Office applications.
