Deployment Lead

Team:  Deployment – CRE (Commercial Real Estate) and Grocery Divisions

Bueno turns the systems already running inside large building portfolios into analytics our customers act on. None of that happens until someone has connected the building, modelled its data and proven the result. That is what the deployment team does, and this role leads it - across commercial real estate and grocery, in Australia, the United Kingdom and Europe, and now North America.

It is a role for an engineer who wants to stay close to the technology while leading. You will set the standard the team deploys to, shape how we approach an integration nobody has solved yet and be the person colleagues bring the genuinely hard problem to. You will not be writing the integration yourself, but your judgement on whether an approach will work is what the team and our customers rely on.

You will also be the link between deployment and the rest of the business - Product, Commercial, Customer Success and Copeland. You will have the standing to make that happen and a capable, senior team to do it with.

• Technical Delivery - the function delivers what it commits to, on time and at the quality our customers expect, across both divisions.

• How Bueno Deploys - the deployment standard, the integration approach, and the technical position we hold with clients, partners and vendors.

• Capacity - the people, delivery partners and offshore team that make the pipeline achievable, and the case for what more is needed.

• The Team - their development and progression, and the goals they work toward each quarter and each year.

What you bring

At least 7 years' professional experience in the following requirements:

• System integration and protocols - hands-on experience with building management systems from design, project delivery and field commissioning, BACnet and Modbus, Niagara or an equivalent framework, and the major vendor platforms - Schneider, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, Siemens, Delta or Alerton.

• Network engineering - edge gateways, VPNs, subnets and firewall rules, and remote access into customer environments, including working alongside a client IT team to get there.

• Metering - electrical, thermal, water and gas, with the gateways, comms devices and validation that come with them.

• Security by design - an awareness of cyber and information security risk, and a habit of designing solutions that are safe and secure in a customer environment from the outset.

• Technical delivery leadership - experience leading a cross-functional engineering team drawing on different talent pools - HVAC and data modelling, networking, and software or systems architecture - ideally across more than one location or time zone.

• Commercial awareness - you can size a piece of work, explain what it will take, and give a clear view on what is included and what sits outside scope.

• Stakeholder communication - you communicate well with internal teams and external customers and partners, and you can work a difficult conversation through to a shared answer.

• Systemising delivery - you build the SOPs and standard processes that let a delivery operation scale, rather than keeping the method in your head.

Also useful

• Experience delivering through an offshore team or an outsourced delivery partner.

• Data modelling and tagging for analytics, and a view on what makes a model good rather than merely complete.

• HVAC or BMS logic design, or HVAC design experience. Refrigeration controls knowledge is a real bonus.

• Large multi-site rollouts at pace, or grocery and refrigeration estate work.

• Scripting and automation to take repetitive work off the team, including LLM-assisted tooling.

• Linux and containers, enough to be useful in a conversation about an edge device.
