About the Position

We are looking for an experienced school leader to serve as Dean of Students for our Academy of Math and Programming (AMP) in New York City.

AMP is a residential program for recent high school graduates of diverse backgrounds who have experienced barriers to access and opportunity within advanced STEM education. 

Students spend five weeks studying mathematics, computer programming, data analysis, and game theory while building a close academic and residential community.

As Dean of Students, you will support the program's academic culture and help students meet our clear expectations for attendance, participation, classroom behavior, and academic integrity. To do this successfully, you’ll have to partner closely with instructors and teaching assistants, the program director, guidance counselors, and residential director to make sure students receive consistent support.

Before the on-site program begins, you will partner with Jane Street’s AMP leads on program preparation, including helping develop the code of conduct. During the program, you will be on site from 9am to 5pm, Monday through Friday, while classes are in session. 

Additional responsibilities will include:

• Consistently applying the program's code of conduct during the academic day and helping students address concerns related to attendance, engagement, academic integrity, and classroom behavior in a constructive and developmentally appropriate way
• Meeting regularly with instructors and teaching assistants to understand classroom dynamics and identify students who may need additional support
• Visiting classes periodically to observe student participation and the learning environment
• Meeting regularly with Jane Street’s AMP leads to align on program values and student expectations, discuss student concerns, and agree on key decisions

This is a temporary, full-time summer position. The 2027 program will run from the end of June through the beginning of August. Jane Street deeply values the quality of our educational programming, and we compensate our high-caliber staff accordingly. Travel, housing (if requested), and meals will be provided.

About You

• Have leadership or school administration experience in a middle or high school, summer program, or similar educational setting
• Experienced with supporting student conduct and academic expectations with sound judgment, empathy, and consistency
• A clear, collaborative communicator; comfortable giving direct feedback to students and staff
• Have strong observational and organizational skills, including the ability to notice patterns and follow up promptly
• Able to handle sensitive student matters discreetly and escalate concerns appropriately
