The Data Science Analyst II provides professional analysis, evaluation, and research of various data streams and utilizes large data sets to determine unique insights to further business needs. Provides analytical information to management regarding department procedures, processes, and structure to assist management in organization improvement.

Job Description
 

Essential Functions

1 Works with various personnel, management, and department staff to effectively perform analysis that answers business questions, solves business needs, clarifies data, and adds business values.

2 Researches, identifies, and runs various database algorithms to find and locate data sets and other information; forecasts, data mines, and performs statistical analysis to assist organization and department in solving challenging problems.

3 Works with other team members to apply statistical analysis, pattern recognition with domain and program specific knowledge to solve business issues.

4 Assists and supports in the development of predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, revenue generation, and other business outcomes.

5 Develops tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy; analyzes information to improve business decisions.

6 Provides detailed and concise data sets to decision makers to assist in leveraging data to drive program, service, and department solutions.

7 Conducts studies, gathers and analyzes data from various databases and sources, develops reports, summaries, recommendations, and visual representations, and performs statistical programming and provides consultation and technical assistance; conducts research and logical analysis of procedural, financial and structural barriers to determine areas of needed improvement; appraises and evaluates the desirability and feasibility of fiscal and program restructuring, and develops or directs the development of recommendations to senior management.

8 Documents procedures for future reference and may make recommendations for data analysis process improvements: counsel's clients in interpreting and summarizing statistical results.

9 Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

1 Knowledge of data management and systems.

2 Knowledge of data science analytics.

3 Knowledge of data models and algorithms.

4 Ability to provide source data analytics to facilitate business needs.

5 Ability to work with various personnel and stakeholders to identify business needs.

6 Ability to research, investigate, and identify data issues.

7 Ability to manage data analytics projects and timelines.

8 Ability to create and present sound and accurate reports.

9 Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.

10 Establishing and maintaining strong relationships.

11 Proficiency in R and/or Python required. Competency in both strongly preferred.
12 Proficiency in SQL required; knowledge of other querying languages a plus.
13 Experience in the creation of customized models and algorithms.
14 Examples of past translation of data into visualizations or report outs required.
15 Demonstrated experiences working with large datasets.
16 Familiarity with GIS as a plus, to integrate with geo spatial data.
17 Experience in data automation preferred.
18 Experience performing data mining and statistical analysis with civic, socioeconomic, and/or demographic data.
19 Cross-functional experience in business or social sciences preferred but not required.
20 Experience mentoring or supervising junior data roles a plus.

Education
Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Data Management, Quantitative analysis, or a related field.
 

Experience
Three (3) years of performing data analysis.

Equivalency

A Master’s degree in a math, statistics, physics, computer science, engineering, or related field plus one (1) year of the required experience will meet the education and experience requirements.

Other Requirements
The work involves the use of sensitive data and all Office of Data Analytics and Business Intelligence employees are required to obtain this clearance. Inability to maintain this clearance may result in discharge from the position.

• The following offenses would prevent obtaining the required clearance.
• No felony or class A misdemeanor convictions.
• No class B misdemeanor convictions within the last ten (10) years.
• No family violence convictions

*Selected applicant would be required to obtain CJIS Clearance within the first thirty (30) days of hire (if they do not already hold the certification)

Salary Range

 

$64,251.20 - $79,809.60

 

The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.
