Introduction to the Job

As a Customs Manager, you will play a critical role in enabling ASML’s global business while ensuring compliance with customs regulations. Your work will help support the movement of advanced technology across international borders, allowing ASML to continue driving innovation in the semiconductor industry.

In this Customs Manager role, you will develop, implement, and govern ASML’s global customs strategy with a strong focus on U.S. customs compliance. You will oversee customs-related activities, manage risk, and guide the organization through an evolving regulatory landscape. By partnering with business leaders and cross-functional teams, you will help support business growth while maintaining compliance across customs-related processes, systems, and decisions.

This position may require access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require the Company to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.

Role and Responsibilities

As a Customs Manager, you will serve as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert, helping ASML navigate complex customs requirements while supporting business objectives. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen compliance programs, manage risk, and drive continuous improvement.

You will:

  • Monitor customs laws and regulations and assess their impact on ASML’s business operations.

  • Advise leaders and stakeholders on customs implications related to business decisions and strategic initiatives.

  • Partner with finance, legal, compliance, and other business functions to provide integrated customs guidance.

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve customs compliance policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.

  • Maintain and enhance customs control frameworks, with a strong focus on U.S. customs compliance and risk mitigation.

  • Lead or support business improvement projects as the customs subject matter expert.

  • Represent ASML in interactions with customs authorities, including audits, rulings, agreements, and regulatory discussions.

Education and Experience

To be successful as a Customs Manager, you should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, international trade, supply chain management, law, finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in customs compliance, international trade, or related regulatory disciplines.

  • Experience managing customs compliance programs within the United States.

  • Experience leading customs initiatives in a complex, matrixed organization.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and drive compliance across multiple business functions.

  • Master’s degree in a related field preferred.

  • Licensed Customs Broker certification preferred.

  • Experience within the semiconductor, technology, manufacturing, or machinery industries preferred.

Other Information

This position is located on-site in San Diego, California. It requires onsite presence to attend in-person work-related events, trainings, meetings, and stakeholder engagements to support collaboration, compliance activities, and cross-functional partnership.

A flexible workplace arrangement is available for remote work up to two days per week.

May require domestic and international travel based on business needs.

The current base annual salary range for this role is currently:

$110,250-165,375

Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.

The Company offers employees and their families, medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to participate in the Company’s 401k plan. Employees will also receive eight (8) hours of vacation leave every month and (13) paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
