Job Summary
As a Customer Service Engineer, you will serve as a trusted technical expert supporting Caterpillar medium-speed diesel and gas engines across marine, offshore oil and gas, and power generation applications worldwide. In this role, you will troubleshoot complex engine and system issues, optimize performance, and provide advanced technical guidance to customers, dealers, and internal engineering teams. You will leverage your expertise in engine controls, auxiliary systems, and balance-of-plant equipment to deliver innovative solutions that maximize equipment reliability and customer success. This position offers the opportunity to work on highly complex technical challenges while collaborating with global teams and customers across a variety of critical energy and industrial applications.
What You Will Do
- Provide advanced technical support for medium-speed diesel and gas engine installations serving marine, offshore oil and gas, and power generation customers.
- Diagnose and resolve complex engine, controls, monitoring system, and auxiliary equipment issues through remote and onsite investigations.
- Analyze engine and system performance data to identify root causes, recommend corrective actions, and improve operational reliability.
- Develop, execute, and document engine performance and validation testing activities.
- Optimize engine operating parameters and control strategies in collaboration with performance engineering teams.
- Investigate equipment failures, conduct root cause analyses, and support resolution of product and customer issues.
- Support dealers, customers, and internal stakeholders with technical inquiries involving engine systems, controls, interfaces, and balance-of-plant equipment.
- Lead and coordinate technical projects and field activities to resolve complex customer and operational challenges.
- Partner with sales, parts, and service teams to provide technical expertise, support customer discussions, and promote upgrade solutions.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, inspection findings, and service documentation while representing Caterpillar during customer meetings and issue resolution discussions.
Degree Requirement
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

- Project Management: Working knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
Additional Requirements
- Several years of experience supporting, testing, commissioning, operating, or servicing large medium-speed diesel and/or gas engines.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex engine, controls, and system-level technical issues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively engage customers, dealers, suppliers, and cross-functional engineering teams.
- Professional proficiency in English.
What Will Put You Ahead
- Experience with medium-speed engine applications in marine, offshore oil and gas, or stationary power generation environments.
- Knowledge of Caterpillar Motoren Application & Installation (A&I) guidelines and engine integration requirements.
- Experience with digital engine control systems, governors, monitoring systems, and automation platforms.
- Strong understanding of auxiliary systems, balance-of-plant equipment, and engine installation best practices.
- Experience performing engine performance testing, commissioning, and data analysis.
- Knowledge of propulsion systems, offshore production facilities, or power plant operations.
- Experience supporting customers and dealer networks in a globally distributed technical environment.
- Additional language skills beyond English.
Additional Information
- This position requires the candidate to work a 5-day-a-week schedule in the office.
- International travel up to 40% is possible.
- Relocation is available for this position.

Summary Pay Range:
$128,470.00 - $192,710.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
