Group/Division

The Semiconductor Products and Customers (Semi PC) business unit designs, builds and sells KLA’s product portfolio to help chip manufacturers meet high-quality standards for technologies like AI, data centers, automotive and electronic devices. Our inspection, metrology, and analytics systems detect and monitor defects across logic and memory chips, specialty semiconductors, wafers, reticles, advanced packaging, process equipment and materials. We also develop technologies for specialty processes, IC substrates, and PCB manufacturing, including etch and deposition, component inspection, and imaging and analytics. The Customer Engagement (CE) division is a field-based group of technical experts who partner closely with customers to provide a comprehensive portfolio of KLA products that support yield improvement from R&D through high-volume production. The team helps align KLA’s solutions with customer needs, supports product performance, identifies new opportunities and gathers insights to guide future innovation—all while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will play a key part in advancing business priorities by delivering high-impact work across your area of expertise.

Job Family Summary:

This jobs develops and implements product applications for existing KLA products to provide maximum value to the customer.  They focus on projects related to product installation, customer education on product knowledge and usage capability.  They perform product diagnosis and problem resolution, and interface with customer and KLA internal groups to verify that hardware and software problems have been resolved.  They generate best known method documents, application notes and other applicable training materials.  Field Applications Engineers also support any sales potential with situation like demonstration, Head to Head, product beta support, Joint Development Program to showcase KLA’s product.  They also provide strategic sales support by providing competitive analysis, in-depth fab usage profile and gap analysis.

Responsibilities

• Promptly respond to routine customer requests.
• Provide technical support and execute detailed tool installation/upgrade test plans.
• Perform routine problem diagnosis and problem resolution for wafer characterization at customer site.
• Provide operational training to customers.
• Own and execute value-added project like the STR, evaluation and H2H to deliver tool values to customers.
• Develop, document and share tool BKM and usecases.
• Support preparation and demonstration of products to the customer base.
• Upon reaching L2 product certification, assist training activities of new engineers.
• Gather and feedback competitive information (when appropriate and feasible) to region TEM and/or TD.
• Gather gap analysis, fab profile and competition information to region TEM and/or TD.

Education and Expertise:

• Masters degree (Science or Engineering) or BS with 1-3 years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in engineering applications.
• Packaging industry experience is preffered
• Understands engineering principles and techniques related to area project activities.  Working knowledge of major system components and their interactions.
• Good working knowledge of customer processing knowledge.
• Good working knowledge of various applications.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve basic customer issues (e.g. separating service related issues from Applications).
• Strong communication skills especially technical writing skills
