Role summary :

The SAP OITD Tax Engine Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and governing the integration between SAP and ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination to ensure accurate, compliant, and automated indirect tax calculation across all in-scope countries and business units.

Lead the global design, implementation, and ongoing governance of ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Determination integrated with SAP, ensuring accurate, automated, and compliant indirect tax calculations

Key responsibilities

Lead as Techno Functional SME overall OITD–SAP architecture and design (SD, MM, FI, others), including tax-relevant configuration, data flows, and interfaces.
Translate indirect tax and compliance requirements (VAT, GST, sales & use tax, etc.) into Functional / Technical designs and OITD rules/content.
Lead full lifecycle implementations and rollouts of the tax engine (fit/gap, blueprinting, build, testing, deployment, hyper care).
Configure and maintain OITD, including tax rules, content updates, jurisdiction mappings, product and customer taxability, and exception handling.
Design and oversee integration with SAP (e.g., RFC/web services, tax procedure, condition records, determination logic).
Define and govern tax-relevant master data standards (material/service tax classification, customer/vendor tax data, jurisdiction codes).
Partner with Tax, Finance, IT, and business process owners to prioritize requirements and ensure solutions meet compliance and business needs.
Lead and coordinate system testing (SIT/UAT), create test scripts, and validate tax outputs across key scenarios and countries.
Define and govern tax-relevant master data standards (material/service tax classification, customer/vendor tax data, jurisdiction codes).
Monitor production performance of the tax engine, troubleshoot defects, and drive root-cause analysis and permanent fixes.
Ensure processes and configurations meet global and local indirect tax regulations, supporting audits and documentation requests.
Define and maintain governance over change management for tax engine rules, SAP tax configuration, and content updates.
Provide subject matter expertise and training to internal teams (Tax, IT, business users) on OITD and SAP tax processes.
Contribute to tax technology roadmap, identifying automation and optimization opportunities (e.g., more countries, new flows, e-invoicing, DRC integration).
Liaise with external vendors (Thomson Reuters, implementation partners) for upgrades, new features, and incident resolution.
Ensure processes and configurations meet global and local indirect tax regulations, supporting audits and documentation requests.
Support business case development and value tracking for tax engine initiatives (reduced manual work, fewer errors, better compliance)

Experience:
At least 10 + years of S/4 Hana implementation experience in Large and complex Oil & Gas transformation projects specifically in SAP Taxes and SAP FI, GL, Asset accounting, and Project systems
Multiple implementation experience in S/4 Hana integration with External Tax engine preferably with OneSource and Vertex in an Oil & Gas project covering EU countries.
SAP Technical skills with interfaces, RFC, ABAP objects, SAP Internet Communication Framework (ICF) using SOAP and Global Next framework.
S/4 Hana DRC Implementation experience is a plus.
Excellent written, verbal, listening, analytical, and communication skills are required.
Candidate should be able to support UK time zone.
Highly self-motivated and directed, Experience in working in team-oriented, collaborative environment in large and complex S/4 Hana projects.

Leadership and collaboration
Act as primary point of contact for the SAP–OITD solution.
Lead as SME virtual team of consultants, developers, and business SMEs during projects and enhancements.
Manage stakeholders across Tax, Finance, IT, and operations, ensuring clear communication of scope, timelines, and impacts.
