Job Description
The Credit Control Analyst is responsible for assessing customer credit risk, maintaining appropriate credit limits and payment terms, managing credit holds, and supporting the timely collection of outstanding receivables.
The role works closely with customers, Sales, Order Management, Accounts Receivable (GSSC), Business Unit Finance, and other internal stakeholders to manage credit exposure, resolve account issues, support order release decisions, and minimize the risk of bad debt.
The position requires strong financial analysis, communication, reconciliation, and organizational skills, together with the ability to balance commercial requirements against the organization’s credit risk policies.
Key Responsibilities
1. Credit Hold and Order Release Management
- Monitor credit hold reports, blocked orders, shipment holds, and the central credit inbox on a daily basis.
- Assess credit availability for booked and scheduled orders before approving order or shipment release.
- Review order backlog, bookings, shipment activity, outstanding balances, and sales pipeline information to identify potential credit exposure.
- Apply or release credit holds at customer, account, order, shipment, or order-line level in accordance with the company’s credit policy and approval framework.
2. Reporting and Performance Monitoring
- Prepare regular reporting on blocked orders, CN, disputed balances, and customer credit exposure.
- Monitor and report on operational credit control activities, including: Credit releases completed, Blocked orders reviewed and released, Credit note approvals supported, Proforma invoices issued have been paid, Credit limit changes processed, Customer profiles updated, Payment-term exceptions reviewed
- Maintain accurate reporting data and provide commentary on significant movements, emerging risks, and overdue accounts.
- Assist management with ad hoc credit reporting.
- Support quarter-end and year-end financial close activities relevant to credit control and accounts receivable.
3. Compliance and Internal Controls
- Ensure that credit assessments, limit changes, payment terms, and credit hold decisions are appropriately documented and approved.
- Maintain evidence supporting new-customer payment terms and approved deviations for existing customers.
- Maintain complete and audit-ready records of credit decisions, approvals, and customer correspondence.
- Support internal, external, and control-related audit requests.
- Follow company policies relating to credit management, financial controls, data protection, and customer information.
4. Process Improvement
- Participate in credit control process-improvement initiatives.
- Perform ad-hoc root-cause analysis on recurring billing, customer-data, and order-release issues if required.
- Support the standardization and documentation of credit control processes.
- Assist with testing or implementing system and process changes affecting credit and collections.
5. Credit Assessment and Risk Management
- Assist credit assessments for new and existing customers with relevant credit reports and other relevant credit information.
- Review requests for extended or non-standard payment terms and ensure that the appropriate approvals and supporting documentation are obtained.
Job Skills & Requirements:
- Degree or professional qualification in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related discipline
- Experience working within an international or multinational organization.
- Understanding of the Quote-to-Cash or Order-to-Cash process
- Exposure to SOX/Internal controls and supporting audits, with strong documentation and compliance focus
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability in working under pressure and meeting deadlines
- Strong IT skills – (i.e., ORACLE, Excel, PowerPoint, Essbase, OBIEE)
