We are looking for a Corporate Planning Manager / Senior Corporate Planning Manager who thrives in complex corporate environments and enjoys working across multiple business functions. This role is ideal for a corporate generalist with experience in planning, governance, compliance, corporate administrations, group company management, or regional headquarters functions.
Unlike traditional corporate strategy or consulting roles, this position focuses on execution, implementation of governance, and problem-solving. The successful candidate will be responsible for navigating organizational complexity, driving alignment across stakeholders, and ensuring corporate affairs are effectively managed from start to finish.
Responsibilities:
Group Company Management
Support and coordinate APAC group companies to ensure alignment with Rakuten headquarters and regional governance standards.
Act as a key liaison between Rakuten Asia, APAC group companies, and headquarters in Japan.
Monitor and facilitate organizational, operational, and reporting alignment across entities.
Support regional entities in addressing corporate and operational affairs.
Governance & Compliance
Strengthen and maintain governance frameworks across APAC entities.
Support implementation and monitoring of corporate policies, internal controls, and compliance requirements.
Ensure group companies adhere to corporate governance standards and internal policies.
Coordinate governance-related matters with internal stakeholders and external partners where required.
Corporate Administration & Policy Management
Draft, review, and maintain internal policies and procedures.
Drive consistency and standardization of corporate processes across the organization.
Support continuous improvement of corporate operations and compliance practices.
Board & Shareholder Meeting Organization
Organize Board of Directors meetings, shareholder meetings, and regional governance forums.
Prepare and consolidate meeting materials, reports, presentations, and supporting documentation.
Closely communicate with Corporate Secretary to keep legal compliance.
Corporate Actions
Work closely with Legal, Tax, Finance and Accounting teams, identify and solve complex corporate challenges involving multiple stakeholders and functions.
Structure, prepare documentations and execute corporate actions including but not limited to capital optimization, financing, and share transfers.

Requirements
Corporate Planning Manager
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
Experience working within a Regional HQ, Global HQ, or multinational organization.
Experience supporting group companies in multiple countries.
Exposure to planning, governance, compliance, policy management, or corporate administration.
Ability to communicate effectively with various business professionals including but not limited to lawyers, accountants, corporate secretaries, tax advisors and auditors.
Strong stakeholder management and coordination skills.
Attention to detail and quantitative accuracy.
Business-level Japanese and English communication skills.
Senior Corporate Planning Manager
Minimum 15 years of relevant experience.
Proven experience managing complex governance and corporate affairs across multiple entities.
Strong understanding of group company management and corporate operations.
Experience partnering with senior leadership and headquarters stakeholders.
Ability to independently manage regional governance initiatives and cross-border stakeholder relationships.
Ability to lead various business professionals including but not limited to lawyers, accountants, corporate secretaries, tax advisors and auditors.
Attention to the details and quantitative accuracy.
Business-level Japanese and English communication skills.
