Mō te tūranga | About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Corporate Governance team and play a key role in supporting effective decision-making across the organisation. Working closely with Boards, Committees and senior leaders, you'll help ensure strong governance practices, transparency and accountability are embedded in everything we do.

As our Corporate Governance Manager, you'll provide trusted governance advice, oversee key governance processes and help leaders meet their governance obligations with confidence. You'll also help drive continuous improvement, modernising governance practices and enhancing the quality, efficiency and impact of governance across the business.

This role goes beyond traditional governance administration. You'll be part of a team transforming Corporate Governance into a proactive, insight-led function that delivers strategic value and supports Westpac's future success.

• Working closely with Company Secretaries to support Boards and Committees, helping ensure governance activities run smoothly from end to end.
• Coordinating meetings, board papers, governance systems and key governance processes across Westpac New Zealand.
• Tracking actions, decisions and commitments to help keep priorities moving and ensure accountability.
• Preparing governance reporting and insights that help leaders make informed decisions.
• Finding smarter, simpler ways of working by improving governance processes, tools and systems.
• Supporting a culture of strong governance, continuous improvement and high performance.
• Keeping governance records, registers and entity information accurate, up to date and easy to access.
• Ensuring important governance information is managed effectively and maintained to a high standard.
• Supporting organisational changes and ensuring governance information keeps pace with business needs.
• Coordinating regulatory filings, compliance activities and external reporting requirements.
• Working with legal, risk, audit and other stakeholders to provide accurate documentation and governance records.
• Helping identify and escalate governance or compliance risks when needed.

Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?

• Experience in governance, company secretariat, legal, compliance, risk or a similar corporate environment.
• An understanding of governance principles and how organisations meet their regulatory obligations.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
• Excellent written communication skills and confidence preparing reports, papers and governance documentation.
• A proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and finding better ways of working.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to build trusted relationships across the business.
• Experience working in a complex or regulated environment would be an advantage.
• Relevant tertiary or professional qualifications are desirable but not essential.
