Reporting to the Director of Teacher Preparation Programs, the Coordinator of Clinical Fieldwork supports teacher candidates and partnership relationships related to Traditional and Residency pathways leading to a California teaching credential. This position partners with other Clinical Coordinator(s) and department faculty to maintain school partnerships, coordinate clinical placement and fieldwork experiences, and participate in clinical fieldwork design and ongoing program improvement. The position is place-based and expected to engage, in-person with partners, mostly in the Los Angeles region.

Position Specific Responsibilities/Accountabilities

Lead School Liaison

  • Coordinate Residency and Traditional program partner in-person and remote meetings.

  • Lead communication with school partners in projecting enrollment and planning for clinical placements for Residency and Traditional pathways

  • Respond and address candidate, faculty, fieldwork supervisors, staff, and school-site concerns related to fieldwork placements and experiences

Clinical Placement and Fieldwork Coordination

  • Collaborate with schools to recruit Mentor Teachers

  • Identify schools to host Traditional and Residency candidates.

  • Develop, implement, monitor, and assess professional development for Mentor Teachers

  • Design and implement professional development for Fieldwork Supervisors

  • Coordinate, monitor, and evaluate candidate placements ensuring placements meet program guidelines and CA standards.

  • Serve as the instructor of record for fieldwork course sections, which includes collecting, monitoring, and grading fieldwork assignments.

  • Monitor Candidates’ progress toward satisfactory completion of credential clinical fieldwork requirements

  • Design and implement interventions for Candidates not making adequate progress in clinical fieldwork requirements and edTPA assessments

Clinical Fieldwork Design and Improvement

  • Develop performance-based rubrics and assessments aligned with credential program and partner learning goals and standards

  • Design data collection instruments, use data, and produce reports to monitor effectiveness of Mentor Teachers, Fieldwork Supervisors, and clinical experience overall

  • In collaboration with SOE faculty, design and implement curriculum and clinical pacing guides

  • Align clinical fieldwork with program curriculum and courses and edTPA timeline and expectations

Other Duties:

  • Attend Department and SOE required meetings

  • Participate in regular in-person and remote meetings with the Director of Teacher Preparation and other clinical staff

  • Travel to partners in Northern and Central California

  •  Represent LMU at convenings, conferences, and meetings of the educational professional community, professional organizations or associations, and California Education State Agencies

  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Requisite Qualifications

  • Typically a Master’s Degree in Education or a related field or equivalent experience.

  • Five years of experience working in TK-12 schools with high concentrations of racially, socio-economic, and linguistically diverse students.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of teacher education research, including culturally and linguistically responsive pedagogy, and the capacity to apply findings to program design and systems-level improvement.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of California Teaching Commission credential program standards, Teaching Performance Expectations, and edTPA.

  • Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral) evidenced by background in preparing reports, handbooks, and correspondence.

  • Highly developed organizational and leadership skills.

  • Demonstrated competency with technology, including university platforms, Microsoft systems, and artificial intelligence.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching in teacher preparation or induction programs.

  • Experience in educating and/or supervising K–12 school professionals.

  • Strong record of building collaborative partnerships with TK-12 schools and community stakeholders.

Staff Term (Fixed Term)

Salary range

$78,600.00 - $102,200.00 Salary commensurate with education and experience.
