Job Description Summary

The Continuous Improvement Specialist is going to be responsible for supporting, sustaining, improving, and leading troubleshooting and maintenance efforts for automated equipment across Fuel Manufacturing Operations (FMO). This role provides technical and operational coaching to resolve complex issues, execute process improvements, and ensure long-term equipment and process reliability with a strong focus on Lean tools. Will be expected to mentor and coach others on the process to drive the culture of improvement across the site.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for the assigned manufacturing processes.
• Be the lean focal for the manufacturing factories implementing lean principles around SQDC
• Monitor and analyze process performance to ensure equipment operates within control limits, meeting or exceeding reliability, availability, and KPI expectations.
• Lead problem-solving efforts when KPIs deviate from targets; develop and implement long-term corrective actions.
• Maintain and improve process and equipment documentation, including operating procedures, maintenance guides, training material, technical reports, and functional test instructions.
• Deliver training and mentorship to operators and maintenance personnel, to enhance technical capability and process ownership.
• Lead and execute process improvement initiatives, leveraging industry best practices and competitive insights.
• Support and guide testing of equipment, processes, and controls to assure conformance to applicable regulations, quality requirements, and internal standards.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for cross-functional teams on equipment performance, obsolescence mitigation, and technology upgrades.
• Support the 24/7 manufacturing operation, including emergency response, strategic project execution, and critical issue escalation.
• Champion adherence to safety, quality, and compliance standards, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Perform other leadership-related and technical duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• Minimum 2 years’ experience with industrial automated equipment and processes, with demonstrated leadership in technical problem-solving.
• Lean/Six Sigma formalized training and knowledge of tools.

Eligibility Requirements:

• For Controlled Access Area: must be able to successfully pass a Nuclear Safety Training Test; follow strict radiation protection, criticality, and industrial safety regulations; wear protective clothing to enter the area.
• Ability to walk up and down stairs. 
• Must be 18 years or older and have legal authorization to work in the United States.

Desired Characteristics

• BS or MS in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering.
• Demonstrated success leading technical teams or cross-functional improvement initiatives.
• In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, automation systems, and associated equipment.
• Proven ability to develop, maintain, and improve process and equipment documentation.
• Strong experience in structured problem-solving methodologies.
• Advanced troubleshooting and maintenance support skills for industrial equipment.
• Experience implementing process improvements that yield measurable performance gains.
• Ability to resolve obsolescence issues and develop proactive prevention strategies.
• Experience in regulated manufacturing environments.
• Proficiency with GE (now Emerson) PLCs, Oracle databases and SQL, motion control devices, GE MkVIe, PI Process Historian, and GE (now Emerson) License Server.
• Experience with configuration/change management processes.
• Familiarity with computer programming for automation or process control.
• Ability to operate effectively in a 24/7 chemical/manufacturing environment.
• Strong analytical thinking and ability to exercise sound judgment in complex, ambiguous situations.
• Ability to clearly explain technical issues to non-technical audiences and influence decision-making.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Track record of delivering sustainable solutions to complex technical challenges.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government. ​

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $68,500.00 and $102,800.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

 

 

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
