Role Overview

The Civil Project Engineer will be responsible for end-to-end planning, execution, coordination and delivery of civil development and construction projects, including residential/ dormitory and other site development projects. The role requires strong hands-on experience across civil construction, structural works, architectural finishes, infrastructure development, quality, safety, statutory approvals. This engineer will act as the key technical and execution interface between the Owner, Design Consultants, PMC, General Contractors, Subcontractors, Government Authorities and other project stakeholders, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead end-to-end execution of civil residential/industrial development projects from design review through construction, commissioning, handover and close-out.
• Develop and monitor construction schedules, milestones, manpower, equipment and resource requirements.
• Coordinate multiple contractors and subcontractors for timely execution.
  Monitor progress against approved project schedules and establish recovery plans for delays.
• Conduct regular site meetings, progress reviews and coordination meetings.
  Identify construction risks, constraints and interfaces and drive timely resolution.
• Manage construction activities including earthwork, excavation, foundations, RCC, structural steel, masonry, plastering, waterproofing, flooring, roads, drainage and external development.
• Review structural drawings, calculations, shop drawings and method statements for constructability.
• Supervise execution of foundations, columns, beams, slabs, retaining structures and other structural elements.
• Ensure construction complies with approved drawings, specifications, applicable codes and engineering standards.
• Coordinate structural works with MEP, utilities and other building services.
• Coordinate architectural layouts, elevations, finishes, doors/windows, flooring, ceilings, painting and façade-related works.
• Establish and enforce project-specific QA/QC procedures, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), checklists and quality standards.
• Inspect construction activities and ensure compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
• Coordinate material inspections, testing, sampling and laboratory requirements.
• Manage NCRs, punch points, corrective actions and quality closure.
• Ensure proper documentation of inspections, testing, as-built drawings and handover dossiers.
• Work closely with EHS teams and contractors to ensure safe execution of all construction activities.
• Ensure compliance with project safety procedures, applicable statutory requirements and safe work practices.
• Participate in site safety inspections, audits and risk assessments.
• Ensure appropriate controls for excavation, lifting, work at height, temporary works and other high-risk activities.
• Coordinate with local government authorities, municipal bodies, development authorities, fire authorities and other statutory agencies as applicable.
• Support and drive approvals, permits, NOCs, inspections and statutory clearances required for project execution.
• Coordinate documentation and submissions required for building permissions, development approvals, fire approvals, completion/occupancy-related approvals and other statutory requirements.
• Manage civil contractors, structural contractors, architectural contractors, consultants and specialist vendors.
• Review contractor method statements, work programs, manpower deployment and construction methodologies.
• Monitor contractor performance against schedule, cost, quality, safety and contractual requirements.
• Review BOQs, quantity take-offs, contractor quotations and variation proposals.
• Monitor changes, deviations and additional works and ensure proper approval before execution.
• Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost optimization without compromising quality or safety.
• Maintain project records including drawings, RFIs, submittals, inspection reports, test reports, NCRs and approvals.
• Ensure preparation and updating of as-built drawings and asset documentation.
• Lead snagging, punch-list closure, testing and final inspection activities.
• Ability to use Large Language Models or Generative AI tools such as Copilot, Claude, Chat GPT improving day-to-day work efficiency.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Professional experience in civil construction and building/development projects.
• Strong knowledge of civil, structural and architectural construction practices.
• Experience in managing contractors and multidisciplinary project teams.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in residential, commercial, dormitory, institutional or large-scale development projects.
• Strong exposure to RCC, structural steel, architectural finishes and external infrastructure.
• Experience in end-to-end project execution from design → procurement → construction → quality/safety → approvals → handover.
• Experience with large-scale, fast-track or complex construction projects is preferred.
