Job Description

• Control expenditure and identify process improvements to contain and reduce costs.
• Build working relationships across teams and functional lines to enhance work delivery, collaboration and innovation.
• Creates solutions to meet customer demands to deliver internal and external customer service excellence through adherence to quality service standards.
• Improve business decisions by providing accurate and reliable business intelligence (information) together with analysing trends and data.
• Provide regular reports on delivery of services against agreed service level agreements and in terms of overall customer targets.
• Accumulate information to review work progress that provides input to reporting, decision making and the identification of improvement opportunities.
• Implement, monitor and control business processes according to quality standards; policy; and compliance and governance requirements in area of accountability.
• Ensure the development, alignment, mapping and implementation of end-to-end processes aligned to the customer journey map.
• Research, enable and consult on improvements and opportunities to harness technology and platform enablement.
• Review existing processes and suggest innovative ideas to improve and streamline processes to drive efficiencies and minimise redundancy.
• Monitor customer feedback reports and align processes to maximise efficiencies.
• Provide overall compliance advice to management and leadership teams to ensure compliance with legislation, regulations, policies and procedures.
• Apply compliance principles, commit to the compliance practices, design and implement various compliance plans and strategies, conduct compliance monitoring, and interact with various industry role-players.
• Implement standards, policies and procedures governing business compliance.
• Assist in the development of the contextually relevant implementation plan of the Group’s Compliance Framework and Procedures as well as the monitoring mechanisms.
• Stay up to date with the legislative changes and best practices affecting the Group and its underlying operations and communicate these back to the Group in a simplistic way.
• Provide assurance to the Compliance Management team and the Audit and Risk committee that there is compliant with its regulatory and legislative obligations.
• Prepare written reports of the status in complying with relevant regulations, laws, policies and contractual obligations.
• Recommend mitigation of risks and implementing remedial action.
• Manage organisational risks in compliance with the strategic risk register and operational risk register.
• Assist in establishing a compliance culture throughout the organisation, through training and awareness initiatives.
• Provide training and awareness to staff regarding compliance requirements making this an entrenched and not a complicated part of on-going business practices.
• Ensure compliance with relevant statutory, legislative, policy and governance requirements in area of accountability.
• Ensure implementation of relevant policies, governance and practice standards across the business.
• Maintain knowledge on relevant legislative amendments, industry best practices and internal compliance procedures and requirements.
• Ensure compliance is adopted in terms of systems and procedures as laid out by organisation and review in response to audit findings and changes.
• Develops an understanding of risks and risk management approaches.
• Implement and provide input into the development of governance and compliance procedures and processes within area of specialisation and identify risks.
• Educates others and makes suggestions for improvements.
• Networks and participates in specialist risk forums where required.
• Provide input into the development of the business area tactical strategy in achievement of the overall business strategy.
• Develop and implement an area operational plan in achievement of Business objectives
• Contribute to teamwork and inclusivity within own team
• Identify and utilise opportunities to assess and improve own performance

Experience and Knowledge Requirements

The successful candidate should have experience and knowledge in the following areas:

• Regulatory compliance monitoring and reporting.
• Regulatory engagement and stakeholder management.
• Financial sector legislation, regulatory frameworks, and industry best practice.
• Conducting compliance risk assessments and developing mitigation strategies.
• Policy development, review, and implementation.
• Supporting licensing applications and regulatory approval processes.
• Assisting with regulatory inspections, reviews, and ongoing regulator engagement.
• Experience operating within the financial services environment, preferably across multiple regulatory jurisdictions.

Additional Requirements

• Ability to operate effectively within a lean specialist Legal and Compliance function supporting multiple business areas and regulatory stakeholders.
• Comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, balancing competing priorities and managing multiple workstreams simultaneously.
• Demonstrated ability to support both strategic initiatives and day-to-day operational requirements.
• Experience working across multiple jurisdictions, particularly South Africa and Namibia, will be advantageous.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
